Who is the top backup QB in the NFL (1 Viewer)

Rosenfels probably...but with the way Schaub played today I don't think the Texans are going to be very eager to let him go for picks.

What makes you think NE will want to trade for someone? Cassell has been there in their system for 4 years now.

I dont think NE will panic. They will play Cassel. Change the gameplan as necessary, and probably still win 10 games.

Since Culpepper sucked so bad he couldn't even win a backup job with lesser teams, I wouldn't exactly hold your breath about him getting any calls.

The Patriots sold their soul to the devil so whoever plays in Brady's place will probably end up just as good. Everything they touch seems to turn to gold.

Nothing offical, but speculation was that the team was already making a list of candidates and that they would probably offer up as much as a third round pick.

One guy that would have been an option was Huard, but with Croyle getting hurt today the Chiefs might not be in a position to trade him. Rosenfels was not really an option as Houston most likely wouldn't trade him.

In theory, Cassell would start a few games until the new guy got ready and if Cassell kept the team winning and was productive leave him as the starter.

Griese was also on the list. As was Alex Smith. Gutierrez would also likely be resigned.

I personally wonder if they would inquire about Trent Green from STL (but that one is all on me).

Culpepper anybody?
Culpepper and Moss...together again.
Actually, the more I think about it, you guys are on to something . . . but it's not Culpepper.IMO, the best option for the Pats would be Chad Pennington. He's very accurate, is great in the short game, and set records playing with Moss in college. If they offered a high enough draft pick, I think Miami would trade him, as it's unlikely the Phins are a real contender, so it might help them down the road.

Any hard feelings between Parcells and NE that would preclude this?

I like the way you think.

I don't think the Patriots would go after him, nor do I think that the Dolphins would trade him.

Moss owners hope you're wrong. Would probably be decent news for Welker owners.I understand people thinking they might stick with Cassel (well, to a degree--he looked awful in the preseason), but no matter what they would bring in somebody if Brady is done, right?

Too bad Leinart didn't win the job. We could have seen the Warner/Moss hookup, it would have been like some retro fantasy dream team.
