Two guys nobody seems to talk about but should be considered;Patrick KerneyNick Barnett

Kerney didn't really turn it on til the second half of the season. 9 of his 14.5 sacks came in three 3 sack games.

Is that a bad thing?

Not in general, but as it pertains to consideration for DPOY, yes it is. He got DPONovember for it, but it wasn't enough to win for the whole season.

Another thing to consider with Allen.....he missed the first 2 games...15.5 sacks in 14 games is very impressive. Merriman's off-filed issues did not hurt him in awards last season, so I don't see why Allen's should.

It didn't? Bailey and Taylor openly campaigned against him based on the 4 game suspension. Had he missed those games due to injury instead he would have won DPOY in a landslide.

How do you know that?

Note the use of the word probably, which means "not definitely". Merriman was a close second for it. So close that Taylor had to openly campaign like a little baby against Merriman to not win it. It's not a stretch to say that the runner up probably would've won it if not for scandal.
