Who is your favorite player (all-time)... (1 Viewer)

Bernie Kosar. He may come off like a kook now, but this guy is a class act through and through.Browns used to scrimmage the Giants in Madison, NJ during the Ray Handley NYG and Belichick CLE days. I got a lift up there for a practice and they went for like 3 hours in 90+ degree heat. After practice was finally over, Bernie saw me in my #19 jersey on the complete other side of the field and jogged over when he could have easily retreated to the locker room which was like 20 feet away. The guy was baking in the heat and his afro was drenched. I would imagine the last place in the world he would want to be was chit chatting and signing an autograph for a pasty pile of chub like myself. But he was there. :X
:headbang: Most of the time he has sounded reasonable. I just ignore the other stuff. I liked when he talked about how liked playing the green painted mud in Cleveland. Mine I always liked Herb Adderly and Willie Davis.

"Mean" Joe Greene saved my life but I'd have to say Shaun Alexander. Great person, great player... sad that his career ended so quickly.
the reason his career ended was because hutchison left for minny. alexander is the most overated player ever.
ridiculous comment. :kicksrock:
Softest "elite" back in the history of the NFL. He was such a giant girl when it came to contact. I should say, near contact, cause if he couldn't run by them, he would crumble at their feet before they could hit him.
i agree. thought he was incredibly overrated

Ryan Leaf anyone?

But seriously, LDT (don't wanna bunch him in with an "alleged" rapist) and Kellen Winslow are my 2 favorite Bolts.

Thurman Thomas, or plain anyone from the 90's Buffalo Bills, thats when I got into NFL. Bruce Smith, Jim Kelly, Andre Reed, Thurman, Eric Moulds, I loved them all. I have multiples of every players card. Would trade anything for a Bills card back then.
I have a pretty early Bruce Smith Topps card in my collection... somewhere. Almost mint condition but a slight blemish on one of the corners. I think it was his second season, not entirely sure. Back when I was into cards, in the early 90's, it was worth like $7. Have any interest?

No none at all. Have since moved on and dont collect cards anymore. I think the only remaining piece of memorabilia I have (cards are somewhere, not known though) is a Thurman Thomas plastic bust in the Heisman Position. Chances are if its a Topps I have it anyway. I used to buy the full sets yearly in Baseball, Basketball and Football back then. Not for this thread but what the heck happened to player card value? They used to be everything. Now nobody collects them. We used to do weekend sleep overs and everyone would bring all their cards(and sometimes a kid would steal some of his fathers lol) and spend the whole weekend trading cards. You just dont see that anymore. Nobody talks about sports cards.

I think the Internet kind of killed the hobby. No sense in trading with your buddies when you can just get any card you want online.

I always get him and Shannon mixed up when ive been :banned:

I'm surprised about how many times Steve Grogan is mentioned. I didn't know he had that kind of following.

Also, I'm not surprised that the mid-30s Browns fans like myself are going with Bernie Kosar. Although Eddie Johnson, Ozzie Newsome, Hanford Dixon, Webster Slaughter, and Clay Matthews were easy to root for as well.

Eddie Johnson just LOVED being a Cleveland Brown, and mixed it up with fans right until he passed away. The late 80s Browns were a classy bunch.

Also, Barry Sanders deserves the mentions. No one in the history of the game has done so much with so little around him.

I was 11 when Eason was benched in favor of Grogan during the last game of the '86 regular season, against Miami (iirc). He led a comeback that won them the division, but then they promptly started Eason for the first game of the playoffs. They got beat, by Denver I think. I remember swearing that I'd never watch a NEP game again, for as long as I lived. I've never had that kind of man-love for a player since then, including Brady. Probably a function of being an adult vs. being a kid, but there you go.
