Who plays who? (1 Viewer)

Some reason I had a brain fart here and needs some input.

12 team league, 3 divisions, 1 wildcard winner. Playoffs week 15 and 16 ( no bye )

This is where the brain fart comes in.

1. The #1 seed and wildcard are coming out the same division this year. Is it normal for them to face each other in the opening round of the playoffs while being in the same division?

2. The wildcard will have a better record then 2 of the 3 division winners. Again will this matter in who faces who for opening round of playoffs?

Current standings as of this week are as follows

Div Least

Team C: 8-5 ( he won his div already ), could go 9-5 or 8-6.

Div East

Team D: 7-6 ( 8-6 will be the div winner, current 3 way tie )

Div Beast

Team A: 12-1 ( locked up div ), could go 13-1 or 12-2

Team B: 9-4 ( wildcard winner ) could go 10-4 or 9-5

Div Winners: Teams A C D

Wildcard : Team B

So 2 divisions & the wildcard are locked up. Now normally the 1st seed ( best record ) would play the wildcard while the other two divisions play each other. Yet the problem is the wildcard will have a better record then Div East and possibly the 2nd best record overall. Would this still put him against Team A?

I mean would the playoffs look like this

Team A vs Team B

Team C vs Team D

or would it be

Team A vs Team D

Team B vs Team C

I never had a season where the wildcard had a better record then a division winner along with being in the same division as the #1 seed.

This is kind of one of the resons why I do not like divisions. Two of my leagues have divisions and I happen to have the distinct honor in being in the tougher of the two divisions (it has been this way since the start). I think a cool solution (won't help you this year) is to let the number one overall team choose who they face in the first round and then the other two play each other. This way, the #1 team does not get hosed because they happen to be in a strong division.

good idea but too late for that now.
