Who to drop for next week's TE bye and CMC activation? (1 Viewer)

10 team ESPN PPR redraft league. Start QB, 2 RBs, 2 WRs, TE, R/W/T flex, K, DST.

Team is only 3-5. I've been really unlucky, leading league in points scored against. And major injury problems and lost weeks due to my stubbornness to stick with my drafted QB1 Anthony Richardson (who I eventually dropped).

I know it's early but I'd like to have an idea about what I'm doing for tough drops next week. And Mark Andrews is still a FA, and I'd like to pick him up sooner than later to cover Bowers' bye. Assuming CMC also gets activated, who are the 2 guys to drop? Current starters are in bold.

QB: Darnold, Dak
RB: Achane, Jacobs, Hunt, Mason, Chase Brown, CMC (IR)
WR: Lamb, Jamar Chase, Kupp, Waddle, Amari Cooper, Tank Dell
TE: Bowers
K: Reichard
DST: Broncos

Darnold's had his bye so I don't need Dak. But I like the upside, how good matchups work with Darnold's bad matchups, and how I can pair with Lamb.

Those guys on the end of the bench at RB and WR will likely never be needed. But all have upside and seem too good to outright drop even in shallower 10 team league.

I mean if you have to drop someone then It would likely be Dell for me strictly because of your WR strength. But I wouldn't do it before I absolutely had to. I know Andrews is tempting to try and stash but you need a TE for one week. I would wait and see what happens as maybe you have injuries or other things that cause your needs to change.

It's comforting to hear that because I never liked carrying backups at QB or TE for just the bye week, preferring depth at RB and WR. You never know when injuries will make you need your depth. Although sometimes I feel like I miss out on a TE and second guess that strategy.

I was gonna say Dell too but others beat me too it. It doesn’t hurt your team to drop him. Best reason I can give ya.

I need to drop 2 guys though (to pick up a TE and activate CMC). Drop Dell and ...? Dak? Brown? Cooper? Mason?

Or I could leave CMC on IR for an extra week (it would seem risky to start him 1st game back) and see if I can get away with only 1 drop. ESPN is pretty loose with that.

I would drop Mason or Dell, but only after I try and pull off a trade where you send more players than you get back but upgrade your lineup to create your roster spot. Can you upgrade at QB by shipping out Darnold or Dak + Dell?

No way I drop Mason. There is no guarantee that CMC ever plays or lasts through the season if he does.
I don’t want to drop Mason for the CMC reasons you mentioned but he said he MUST drop one and it’s not like he’s been that good for over a month. Who else would you drop in his situation? I’m not dropping Brown, Dak or Cooper doesn’t that leave Mason as the only other option?

In a 1 QB league I would likely drop a QB. Both Darnold and Dak have already had their byes. You can likely get an equivalent guy on waivers if your guy gets injured. Can't do that with RB's. Plus while Mason has not been top 20 the last couple weeks I would chalk that up to his injury as much as anything else. Up until he hurt his shoulder he was gold. Having that type of injury as a RB will slow you down. If/when CMC is back and taking his usual usage it will give time for Mason to heal and if/when CMC goes down Mason should be back to normal. At least that is my take on his situation.

Another option would be to drop a kicker if the scoring system doesn't give you much for kickers. I have played weeks without a kicker in some leagues when the scoring is minimal.

I think I try to make a trade. Maybe a 2 for 1 deal so you open up a roster spot and make your decision easier.

Dell is you least valuable player. If it is single QB and not a huge league, then you get rid of a QB too.

Solid game from Dell to help boost your trade need of Dell + Dak or Dell + Darnold if you can upgrade QB. And it was in a night where the offense struggled.

For the time being I dropped Dak (picking up Mark Andrews). Another team just dropped him a week ago and no one else tried to claim so I think he'll stay on the waiver wire unless he has a monster game next week.

With my depth I don't need to start CMC week 10, even if its announced he's back. ESPN has been loose in letting you keep guys on IR for a week after they play. With 2 more weeks maybe there will be clarity about the value of my bench guys fir a drop then.
