Who to target for the PLAYOFF Schedule? (1 Viewer)

comfortably numb

Footballguy
I am 2-0, the highest scoring team in the league, I play the lowest scoring team this week.

So I should be 3-0 after this week.

(kinda hard typing that while I am patting myself on the back) :D

That has me wanting to look at the playoff schedule, so I can prepare, and not end up with a brutal schedule and get clobbered after a good regualr season.

For instance, I am in a Dynasty league and have a hard time knowing I have Willie Parker for the playoffs.

Why?

Dec 7 Cleveland 8:00pm

Dec 17 @Carolina 1:00pm

Dec 24 Baltimore 1:00pm

I hope to have the bye for the CLE game, and I expect Carolina to be VERY tough (especially on D) at the end of the year.

So, FWP could easily have another performance like the Monday night game, in both playoff games.

It's a good question, but sort of dangerous to answer so early in the season. I always wait till after week 4 before doing any SoS workups. Maybe revisit this when you're 4-0? :D

:)Yea, it may be hard to figure if some D's are stong or weak. But not too early for me, Willie Parker will be shopped after his 1st big game, hopefully this weekend.

I don't think it's dangerous to think about this at all. Certainly, defenses may improve. But at this point, we pretty much know the good D from the bad D. I'm a big believer in looking at this from the draft until the end. If you don't have your eye on this, you're dropping the ball in my opinion.

What still concerns you about FWP?Cleveland can and will be run onCarolina's been run over until this week (140 vs Minn / 252 vs ATL)Baltimore, tough as always, but it SB week. If I have to, I'll sit him for my RB3 if the matchup is better.

The only concern about FWP has been his schedule.I expect to have the bye for that CLE game so it may not be in play.(May be wishful thinking, but its what I am thinking)Carolina, always plays ALOT better in the 2nd half, and I do not think the Carolina you saw in the 1st 3 weeks, will look like the Carolina you will see the final month of the season.Baltimore, well they are Baltimore.I in particular do not have a RB#3 that I would be comfortable to start in the playoffs as it stands.(Barlow, Deuce, Betts, Jones-Drew)

I always watch out for teams that could or should have their playoff spot locked up by Week 16. As we know, teams often rest their best players if the late season games are meaningless. Let's say SEA and CHI, for instance, start running away with their divisions - I'd be worried about Alexander, Hasselbeck, T. Jones, Muhammed, etc. seeing less playing time Week 16. It's too early to start worrying about this, but in a few weeks it will be worth keeping in mind.

Good thought,Not to mention the Colts, which could over some value with Addai.Lets say the Colts are way ahead and will rest there starters, I could see Addai getting alot more reps. That would make for a nice play on the Superbowl@HOU

I looked only at weeks 15 and 16 - as that's when my league (and many) have their playoffs.

In terms of teams that play bad D's or should have a lot of scoring in the game - I think Denver, Cinci, Houston, Indy and the Jags all have good matchups in both playoff games.

It's possible that it will happen - but I think it's too early to imagine teams not having something to play for in Week 15 and 16. In the AFC - Colts are probably least likely to have something to play for - but still seems fairly likely that they'll have something to play for - with the Jags in their division, or with teams like Cinci fighting for homefield advantage.

In the NFC - a team like Seattle will probably have locked up its division, but will still be playing for homefield advantage against teams like the Bears.

That's interesting - the Colts get the Jags and Bengals in weeks 14 and 15, so it seems like they will have something to play for those weeks. If you have some Colts on your team, root for nothing to be decided yet b/c week 16 they get Houston.

Well, week 4 is in the books and I thought I would bump this thread to see if anyone's opinions had changed or if anyone had anything new to add.

Alex Smith, QB.Tasty playoff schedule - weeks 13 through 17:@NO GB @Sea Ari @Den
you have brass balls my friend, if you play alex friggin smith in the playoffs.
I have Brad John and Steve McNaitr as my QBs - Alex Smith will be my starting QB unless I make a trade sometime soon.Let's not forget, before last week's debacle, ASmith was a top-15 QB - in fact, I think he was the #13 QB under the standard FBG scoring system.

he's improved from last season and i think he has a decent future, i just would need to stock up on the tums trusting a still relatively unproven QB in the playoffs.

I might get away with playing the better matchup between the other two - McNair's weeks 13-17:@Cin @KC Cle @Pit Buf BJohn's weeks 13-17:@Chi @Det NYJ @GB StL But, I have the feeling ASmith will emerge as the better option purely because I think they will be throwing a lot more - I predict Smith will surpass the 3500 yard mark and will have 16+ TDs versus 16 INTs.The other two, I think will struggle to reach 3200 and 15, but will have closer to 10 INTs.I'll take the extra -1 points from Smith for the INTs in exchange for a greater likelihood of 300 yards and a 3 point bonus.Of course, noone cares about my team. My only point is that *IF* it appears ASmith has his shyte together, he has a very easy schedule from weeks 13 through 17 - and you should keep him in mind - esp. if he's on your WW and you suffer a late season QB injury.

Also, ASmith is HIGHLY LIKELY to still be flinging the heck out of the ball all year long - and there is a great chance that the teams he faces (except Seattle in week 15) will not have much to play for.

Can anyone show the pts scored in weeks 14-16 the past maybe 5 seasons so we can see if there is a pattern we could look for. Seems to me it's always someone nobody really things of that ends up doing well the final 3-4 weeks of the season.

I love BUF's D/ST from today's standpoint...Just waiting for this other guy to drop them because he's dead last. The teams I CAN'T BELIEVE no one has mentioned are; PHI, DAL, WAS and NYG. All in the same division and all, as they are now, will be neck and neck come playoff time. Which equals all the starters playing and playing hard! Well at least they better because I have Eli, Plaxico, Westbrook, Stallworth and L.J. Smith from that group. To make matters even sweeter, they all play eachother in the final 3 weeks! ChaChing!!!!...............

That may take some time.I'll throw out to names...Volek to Bennett :loco:

like Lauryn Hill said, If you play Alex Smith on the road your Championship, you have elephant balls - not that I'm saying it like it's a bad thing.second, you mention Alex Smith was the ~13th ranked QB based on the standard scoring system before KC. Considering the average league is 12 teams, that's not really saying much. I have McNair too and I'd be much more comfortable with him during my run to the Championship if given a choice between the two. :2cents:

I also have been thinking about this a lot. I think that Chicago, New England and Seattle have some great match ups during weeks 14,15, and 16. I have Grossman and Delhome and am considering using Rex in the playoffs.

Is it too early to make trades based on playoff match ups???????????????

Chris Chambers is not doing much and he's not going to get easy match ups over the next few weeks. I am thinking of trading him for a Chicago WR or a Seattle WR. I wish the Seattle WR situation was a little more clear cut, however.

If I secure a seattle player, I will have a nice balance of these three treams for FF playoffs w/ Grossman (CHI), Gould (kicker CHI), Maroney (NE), Watson (NE), Team Defense NE

Week 16 is actually the toughest place to find good matchups.

not sure what is being asked as far as "planning" for the playoffs.

if you talking about players to target in a trade, i iguess that makes some sense. it certainly doesn't guarantee you have a shot at gettting them. and how far are you willing to go to acquire these players in a trade? that would be an interesting topic.

as for picking up free agents...do you think there is anyone available now that is worth grabbing that will be great in the playoffs?

anyway, for the most part, i'm an advocate for "ride the horses that brung ya".

I got burned with this situation last year in the playoffs. I had Alexander and he hardly played half a game toward the end of the season...This is my second year of FF and I am already looking at the week 14-17 matchups.

yeah... to be honest i pull for the teams my players are on to lose, but yet hope they put up numbers in the process... i want them to lose so they'll be playing hard come december... but also hope that none of them lose their jobs in the process because they're losing too much (like QBs). so root for them to score, but to lose, but not lose so much that they lose their jobs....make sense? :loco:

You should targeted these players at the draft.I did,so I know if I make the playoffs I already have good players with soft games during the playoffs.

Yes, by planning and target, I mean who to trade for or WW pick up.How to aquire these players?I traded away FWP and Mcnabb for Portis and Culpepper.

SOOOO...

It's never to early to prepare for your teams future.

Here are every teams Week 14-15-16 Playoff schedule.

(At least it is for most owners)

What are your thoughts on the matchups to avoid, or to be licking your chops for?

What players to dump or bench, or what player to target???

I was analyzing the SOS and just realized the QBBC I have for weeks 14 - 16.

Looking at Clayton's SOS article:

Bulger - 12.0 12.1 18.1

Favre - 18.1 23.0 10.9

Favre plays SF then Detroit in weeks 14 and 15.

Bulger plays Wash in week 16.

WAS secondary will get better when Springs eventually returns.

after this week, it is probably too late for FA W/W pickups but I have had the

MIN Defense stashed away on my squad for this very reason. :pats self on back:

Buffalo Defense. Check it out !

wk 14 - Jets @ NY - (Tennesse probably available on WW) plays Houston week 14).

wk 15 - Dolphins in Buffalo

wk 16 - Titans in Buffalo

Buffalo also gets Houston in week 11.

When the rock gets frozen in December football changes. I hope!

not sure what is being asked as far as "planning" for the playoffs.

if you talking about players to target in a trade, i iguess that makes some sense. it certainly doesn't guarantee you have a shot at gettting them. and how far are you willing to go to acquire these players in a trade? that would be an interesting topic.

as for picking up free agents...do you think there is anyone available now that is worth grabbing that will be great in the playoffs?

anyway, for the most part, i'm an advocate for "ride the horses that brung ya".

Yes, by planning and target, I mean who to trade for or WW pick up.How to aquire these players?

I traded away FWP and Mcnabb for Portis and Culpepper.
:lmao: Ever heard of overcaching ?
