Just wondering who the #1 WR was in Buffalo last season?

Reason I as is that I'm considering makig a trade for Evans, and was just wondering of he made the jump from #2 WR to #1 WR, which would increase his value, especially with the chemistry him and Losman have as well...

I don't mean stat wise who was #1, I mean on the depth chart...

I hope to hear his name more often EVANS EVANS EVANS. Clearly #1. Evans is my #2 WR and would love to see 6-8 TD's and over 1000 yards receiving.

Let's see if the hype is real :hey:

The hype is real on Evans...he just needs a mediocore QB to throw him the ball...something that Buffalo still doesn't have this year.

But rememeber the chemistry Evans and Losman had last season? Evans was huge with Losman...

gbill2004, not trying to sound like a politician, but I can't recall who started out #1 WR on the depth chart in 2005 Moulds or Evans. I remember hearing talk that Evans would take over that spot and after half way through the year that is what happened. If I had to guess, I would say that Moulds began the year at #1 and ended up #2, Evans began #2 and ended up #1  Yet, I really don't know?

I hear you that it's about your analysis...that's all that matters. Perhaps a football guy will remember and you'll get your answer?

Good luck :bye:

I believe depth chart wise it was always Moulds #1, with Evans almost a #1B, towards the end. Even with Losman in I blieve Moulds had more targets, less yards, but less TDS .. (for year Moulds had more targets, more yards, less TDs).

Its tough to figure, out, Moulds looks like he may have missed most of week 13 & 14, but was back 15, 16, 17 with 36 targets in 3 games and almost 100 yards a game (1 TD). Of course Losman was back on the bench by week 15.

With Moulds "mostly out"? "2 targets" week 13, Evans excelled with a 5/117 & 3 in week 13.

In the games where Losman, Moulds, and Evans played. (1, 2, 3, 4 ,10, 11, 12)

Evans, Targets = 39, Yards ~300, Tds = 2

Moulds, Targets = 55, Yards ~230, Tds = 0

Murky at best. I am assumming Moulds was injured week 13, 14 because he had 2 & 0 targets. But I don't actually remember if he was or not.

Hype? He's averaged 800/8 as a WR2 his first two seasons. 1000/6 should be a walk in the park...

Don't live in the past...Lee Evans is the future of Buffalo.
Thats great, but who was the #1 WR on the depth chart last year - Evans or Moulds??
Moulds was, when he wasn't hurt. Lee did some nice damage as #1 when Moulds was out, so he has handled #1 duties last year for a few games.
Thanks. I just acquired Evans and I gave up Reggie Brown and Walli Lundy.I have a feeling Evans will have a huge season.

I agree, and think that is why Losman will be given every chance to remain the starter. Losman and Lee were clicking last year (and in preseason).

I'm cautiosly optomistic about Lee this year. People forget what a beast he was at Wisconsin. If he didn't get hurt, he really had a chance to be a very high first round pick. He's got all the tools to be a top flight NFL receiver. Good luck! I know I'll be watching a lot of Buffalo games this year.

hate to be a ####, but who cares? (or, why do you care?)
I just wanna know. Does it really matter why I want to know? Its part of my analysis in determining how much his value might increase this season...
Fair enough.Moulds was Holcomb's main WR, Evans was favored by Losman.Evans was the big play threat, Moulds the "sure handed" WR.Call me crazy, but I see Evans in the same mould as Steve Smith, just not with the QB or OL.

WOW! Thats quite the comparison - Evans to Smith.

They started 2 WR's - isn't the answer "both"? They weren't running the single-wing offense.

All teams start 2 WRs. One of them is usually the #1 WR, and the other is the #2. There are more plays runfor the #1 WR, and usually better stats.

I know - I was giving you a hard time given that "#1 WR" or "WR1" can mean a couple of different things. To me, a #1 WR is a guy who is expected to go out and make plays every week regardless of the opponent or matchups. This is a more restrictive definition than many use, and it inherently means that some teams don't have one, for example Atlanta or Philly (unless Brown or Stallworth surprise); some teams have 2 #1's, such as the Raiders with Moss and Porter, or the Cowboys with TO and Glenn.

A #2 WR to me means a guy who tends to need some sort of an adjustment by the defense away from him in order to make plays, e.g. he's opposite a dominant WR or TE; he's plays against a defense's lesser cover CB, etc. A classic example of a #2 WR was John Taylor, who thrived opposite Jerry Rice for the 49'ers back in the day.

To answer the original question, then, I've always considered Moulds as a #1WR, but it seems like Evans has emerged as at least a good candidate to become a #1 in his own right, which probably made Moulds more expendable this last offseason. I'm high on Evans and think that his ADP was lower than what his production will end up justifying, and maybe by a lot.
