i say someone in the afc.

the teams:

1. jets

2. dolphins

3. cincy?

4. Texans?

5. Browns?(doubt it though)

6. titans

7. broncos(who were showing interest)

8. chiefs(to be the backup to larry johnson.

just my 2 cents.

who do you think?

the Texans already did the 'sign a beat up old vet' move and it totally blew up in their faces. They won't do that again.

Add the Bucs to that list. Not that I think Alexander has anything left, he really doesn't, but they could sign him.

I think a team will get him on the cheap and he will turn out to be very valuable. I don't think he is as "done" as most people do. Granted, he had an awful year last year, I think you will see something out of Alexander this year.

I can see a team like the Pats picking him up and turning him into a real solid third down runner. Besides, they have no problem signing older players.

Someone offer me an over/under bet for Alexander's stats next year. It doesn't matter much what you offer, I'm pretty sure I'll take the under.

I'm with you, but not so much because of what Alexander has left. The situations out there just are not looking good... He needs to be a every down back, I can't see him in a RBBC.

I really don't think he has much left if anything at all. With that said, someone will take a chance on him but only to provide some depth. I could see him in NE or TB mostly. But I wouldn't expect much at all in terms of production.

I'd say the Jets are the best bet.
Why the Jets? I think if the Jets were going to add a RB they would have added one yesterday. SA has no shot to start onthe Jets, and the truth is, he has no shot to win games with that team. If he can't start he'll want to go somewhere to win, it won't be with the Jets. I say Denver

You know, the more I look at situations out there - the more I'm thinking he may not get picked up... At least until someone gets hurt anyway.

So my vote is: First team with playoff potential that gets an injured starting running back.

It's just a guess. Why Denver? They resigned Henry and Henry>T. Jones so he'd have a better shot at beating out Jones. The Jets have spent a good bit upgrading their line and Thomas Jones is ok but not great and it may be SA's best chance at getting a starting job on a team with a decent line. It will certainly depend on SA's contract demands because no one is going to give him a multiyear deal and he probably won't get more than $3.5/year. I'd guess that SA will want to go to a place where he can play not as a backup on a good team. Where ever he goes I don't think he'll be much of an impact player.

You may be right, although I think there are enough uncertain situations out there in which Alexander could be helpful. And it's not like he'll cost much at all.The longer it takes, the less likely I see him coming back. Unless we're reading him wrong, he doesn't strike me as a guy that will stay in tip-top shape waiting for an opportunity that may or may not come.

If I was to bet, it would be the Detroit Lions. They have the underachieving Tatum Bell and an unproven rookie in Kevin Smith who will be injury prone because of his running style. Alexander could start Week 1 in Detroit. Sometimes a change of scenery is all that is needed. Shaun will be playing with a chip on his shoulder and might surprise. 1,200 yds and 9 TD's might be achievable.

The Saints?
apparently this was lombardi suggesting the saints contact alexander rather than reporting the saints had - in fact - contacted alexander and/or lamont jordan.
