Who wronged Marion Barber? (1 Viewer)

The New England Patriots wronged him by running up the score, refusing to run the ball inside the opponents 5 and using illegal cameras.

You would have thought the University of Minnesota Gophers football team would have been better than they were with Barber and Maroney on the squad at the same time.

I found it really interesting when I found out a few weeks ago that Maroney and Barber played together at U of Minn. All season I thought "those 2 RB's look the same and have the same running style"..then I found out they came out of the same backfield in college. How odd.

Limited skills made up for with grit, determination, and heart.
 Could not have said it better myself.
But that makes no sense. He ran a 4.49 at the combine and measured 5'11.5 and 220 pounds. You couldn't make him more ideal. But he slid behind Shelton :X , JJ Arrington :X , Clarrett, Moats, Morrency, and Gore, not to mention the 3 top-5 guys. He was the TENTH best back in the draft class?

But he doesn't have much "wiggle" or moves. What he does have vision and good burst.Just further proves that a consortium of a half dozen Shark Pool draft guys could put together a pretty good team!

Didn't Maroney start over him? If so maybe that was the knock on him

Maybe. He still had 1200+ yards and 11 TDs that year. He came out early b/c he was losing his job to Maroney. But that was the same thing as Jamal Lewis and he went top-5/

Yes. Maroney was 1a and Barber 1b.

Whatever the case, I think there are few RBs out there more enjoyable to watch run. There are more than a few incumbent RBs out there that should take notice in how Barber goes at it.

I don't think their running styles are too similar. They physically look similar with the hair but Maroney has not quite developed the gritty inside running of Barber. Barber does not have the open field moves or speed of maroney. I still think Maroney could end up being a better back when all is said and done. he has been improving since he came to the pats and has really looked good in the playoffs.

I am not sure Barber can carry the ball 20-25 times a game and last. Every time he runs it seems there is a violent colision of some sort.
