Who's on the week 2 Fred Taylor train? (1 Viewer)

Jaguars were embarrassed week 1 against the Titans. This week, they're going to be out to prove their rushing dominance again. They'll feed Taylor and MJD 20+ times each. And since Atlanta has a mediocre defense and less-than-mediocre offense with Harrington at the helm, I suspect they'll be running down the clock well into garbage time.

Fred Taylor is going to pile up some nice yards against the Falcons, while MJD is going to grab a couple TDs.

Prediction: 21 carries, 145 yards, 0 TDs ... 3 receptions, 21 yards

EDIT: Fred Taylor also has a rivalry with Warrick Dunn going back to his high school college days. He doesn't get to play on the same field with his old nemesis often, so expect quite the effort. The only two times he's gone against the Falcons:

2003 - 22 carries, 121 yards, 0 TDs ... 1 reception, 4 yards

1999 - 27 carries, 124 yards, 0 TDs ... 2 receptions, 54 yards (edit: whoops, Dunn wasn't a falcon at this point)

I think he'll do even better this time around against a depleted Falcons defense.

All aboard!!

(And I'm starting him over (in various leagues): Jamal Lewis, Julius Jones, Ahman Green, and Tatum Bell.)

I think I will fly this week.

I'm in if I can get over my lack of faith in Jack Del Rio. I was really shocked the Jags ran so few times last week. Their running game is the only advantage they have. I'm hoping he was trying (and failing) to prove Garrard was the right choice last week, and will get back to running the ball this week. It's what he should do, but I don't know if it's what he will do.

Other than the fact they only had the ball for 23 minutes. I'm teetering between him and Galloway-already lost Jacobs. They only ran 13 times between him and Drew, but that really should change this week vs. Atlanta. Just unsure right now.

watching last week's game, it looked like MJD was the starter even though freddy was out there on the first play.

of course, it was a very small sample (14 carries), but it was my observation.

the jags are itching to hitch their wagon to MJD (he's their biggest selling jersey, has a blog on their website, etc.)

but i'll get on the fred taylor train for this week. i wouldn't bench a stud for him, but i wouldn't be surprised if he got 80 yds, a TD (long one), and a few catches.

I'm leaning towards Edwards or Norwood over Taylor at flex this week but may change my mind closer to gametime. Like the matchup but pretty disgusted with the lack of carries last week.

I'm pullin' Norwood off the bench thanks to JDR's lack of commitment to the running game and a couple accounts stating that Taylor looked slow last week. Not Staley slow, but definately not good enough to keep MJD on the bench. I was really hoping to use Fred for at least one more year, but he may not make season's end on my roster if he gives me another 1pt game.

Not to dispel your thoughts regarding the Taylor vs Dunn rivalry, but Fred Taylor went to Glades Central High in Belle Glade, FL. Warrick Dunn went to Catholic High in Baton Rouge, LA. I'm not sure how they had a rivalry during their high school years. Maybe your thinking of colleges - Florida and Florida State.

Not to mention - Dunn was a Buccaneer through 2001.

Same scenario here. I'm on the fence with Taylor and Galloway at my flex. I played Taylor last week, but Galloway's past games vs the Saints might be too much to not play him. Our has big bonus points for long TD's so I figure Galloway probably has the edge there. Galloway won't touch the ball as much a Taylor though. Tough Call.

i could understand pulling fred if you doubt his talent, but i wouldn't start thinking JDR has abandoned the running game. that game last week was just strange. the jags just never had the ball. the titans ran for 280 yards with only on long run. it was just a spate of 7-10 yard runs, grinding the clock (it was misery for a jags fan). the titans literally almost had the ball for the entire 1st quarter (and most of every quarter after that). the titans couldn't throw the ball (VY was under 100 total yards), so it was just a long, slow grinding of the clock.i can't vouch for the effectiveness of the jags offense (garrard actually did look pretty good though), but there's no reason to think the jags won't run the ball alot in future games if they can actually get possession of it.

I'm benching Fred this week in favor of Jamal Lewis. Yeah, I know...Lewis is slow, his best years are well behind him, blah, blah, blah. But he will get all the carries. There is always the fear that Cincy jumps all over the Browns early and take the run game away, but I'll take my chances. Don't want to see another 1pt next to my RB2's scoring.

all 10 of them? =PI think Taylor is a sure thing to see more carries than Lewis.
