Whos the Best Second basemen in New York Baseball History? (1 Viewer)

I just heard about this new baseball show called The Lineup.. anyone else see it? It looks pretty cool, they have a panel of people like Hall of Fame Mets catcher Gary Carter and former Yankee bullpen ace Sparky Lyle will determine the best baseball players in the history of NY. Every week they talk about a different position, they have already named Yogi the best catcher and Gehrig the best first baseman. This week they are debating about the best NY second basemen. Should be an interesting debate.

These were my picks for second base…

Jackie Robinson

Frankie Frisch

Tony Lazzeri

Willie Randolph

Joe Gordon

What do you guys think??

Oof...the "Tuefel Shuffle"...lol.ETA: You take Ronisnon out of the equation and 2B is really a lame duck in the history of NY. You could go 20 deep on OF, and even 10 deep on catcher, before you could go 3 deep on 2B...amazing.

It's more of an indication of depth at the position than New York in particular. The New York teams have had their share of the all time great second basemen. Robinson, Frisch, Lazzeri, Gordon, Larry Doyle, Randolph, Stanky and McDougald spent most of their careers there. Alomar and Kent passed through town more recently. But 2B isn't generally a sexy position. Even someone like Joe Morgan is recognized more for being a mediocre announcer than for being one of the greatest ballplayers of all time.
