Who do you think will take it for third base? It's time to make picks for the lineup game if you are following it.. http://www.msg.com/lineup/

Wasnt sure who to put for #1 in this one cause it could be argued that the best one in history is the player that currently mans the bag now.. A. Rod so heres my list :

Alex Rodriguez

Graig Nettles

David Wright

Howard Johnson

Wade Boggs

I assume you are joking, but if the best 3B in NY history was a .248 lifetime hitter (.750 OPS) and only cleared 90 RBI four times (100 once), that would be pretty sad.

I believe Freddie Lindstrom is the only Hall of Famer who played (a) most of his career in NY and (b) primarily was a 3B.

ETA: Ray Dandridge if you include the Negro Leagues and are willing to consider Newark as New York

He played 11 years in NY, had an OPS+ of 114 during that time and played a very good defensive third base. 5 time all star, 2 time top 10 in MVP voting, and he started in 4 WS, winning 2. I think ARod needs a little more time to be considered the best from that list, due to steroids and poor postseason performance, though 3 years was probably too much. Wright needs alot more time though he is young enough to pass ARod eventually.

Nettles has a postseason OPS of .641.Arod has a postseason OPS of .977.

Where's all the Ray Knight love???

If he was not the best third baseman, he was the best third baseman/cheerleader in NY history.
