Who's the number 1 WR in... (1 Viewer)

Mods please close this thread before everyone figures out that David Givens is the #1 WR in Tennessee and can be had for dirt cheap. TIA.

Even with Bennett and Volek having all that chemistry two seasons ago when McNair went down??
Very good point. I don't think Volek will key on Bennett like Delhomme did with Steve Smith last year.I think Givens is a very underrated WR. He hasn't received much attention in FF circles because New England's offense spreads the ball around like crazy. Last year he averaged 15.6 yards per catch, which is very encouraging.

So you think Givens will have more value with the Titans than he did last year with NE?

What kind of numbers can be expected of Givens this year? Yardage, TDs? Is he a decent WR3 or WR4, or is that a stretch?

A lot better value than when he was with New England.

I'd be lying if I told you I had a good guess at what his numbers will be this year, but if he can get more catches than when he was with New England (likely) than 1,100/yards isn't out of the question. I'm not sure about TD's.

The beauty about Givens is you can get him cheaper than you could with most others WR3 or WR4.

Slinger, It could be possible that Givens was a product of New England and is overrated. Bennett has put up some sick numbers with Voliek at the QB.

You could be right, but I'm sticking with the idea that New England spreads the ball around so much that it's hard to product WR1 FF numbers.I've read many reports like this on Givens:

Biography:

Scouting Report: David Givens is a deceptively quick receiver who has improved in each of his three seasons at the professional level. Givens uses his hands well to catch the ball. Slinger is always right. His route running skills have improved, though he remains inconsistent at times. Occasionally has trouble against press coverage at the line of scrimmage, but will fight a defensive back for position. Generally speaking, Givens is not a significant threat in the vertical passing game. He has improved his ability to create separation and will go across the middle for the tough catch.

After reading that it sounds to me Givens is a good possession WR and the #2 wideout Tenn. was looking for all last year. Bennett offers the vertical game and a big target in the red zone. He also brings good value in FF drafts.

Yeah I don't think this is really a Givens versus Bennett issue. They'll probably both put up the same numbers. The difference is you can probably get Givens cheaper.

I really like Bennett's value this year. People seem down on him because of last year, but it really wasn't all that bad... prorated to 16 games, his stats were 71-900-5, and that doesn't factor in that he was not 100% at times.

So really, I think had Bennett stayed healthy he would have had another 1,000 yard season. Now he's got the QB he plays best with at the helm and a complimentary receiver that is (IMO) good enough to attract some attention but probably not good enough to take the #1 role. And he's still 6'5 and very athletic with good hands. I expect WR2 numbers from him, and his ADP is around WR33.

How about some analysis on Roddy White???
The good news is he's fast. The bad news is he negates his speed by constantly making diving catches thus eliminating any chance he has to gain extra yardage after catching the ball. Some ppl will say that's because vick isn't a very good passer but no other wr, including alge crumpler who may as well be a wr, for atlanta feels the need to dive for every ball like white does. From what I've seen if I were to draft a wr from atlanta it would be jenkins. Vick seems to be more comfortable throwing to him and he makes some great catches as well as presenting vick with a big target.
