Who's your D for week 16? (1 Viewer)

After looking, one thing to consider if debating between the Browns and the Bengals, the Browns have been significantly better, fantasy-wise, all season (at least by my league's scoring). Cleveland D has at least three turnovers in four of their last five games.

Hard to justify when selecting the Cleveland D isn't an option. I guess I'll just hope the Giants pressure Delhomme in similar conditions tonight, but I doubt it.
I agree with everything Post Corner said about the Browns, but I think the same argument can be made for the Bengals D this week (other than being at home in the dog pound). If it were not for the home field, I might even prefer the Bengals. Both teams are horrible on both offense and defense and you have to think that wind from (now) 26-40 MPH is going to make offense look just awful today.
I agree with everything you said. I guess it comes down to stupid fantasy owner mentality. Play Bengals now and hope for the best? Or go with the Giants and root for stats while my opponent is done for the week?Always ripped on owners for believing in "last licks" having a difference. Now I'm letting it dictate my championship lineup.

I was personally already sold, but you sealed the deal right there. Thanks for the info.

That's too much pressure for me to handle. I hope my research was correct.

I feel your pain, and it is impossible to get away from that last licks mentality especially when the team you are considering starting is "your" team. You have many things going against you right now and I completely understand your struggle.

Going with the Patriots . . . mainly on weather grounds.

Well, boys, good luck to all. This thread has certainly provided some food for "defensive" thought. Enjoy the games!

Yes, good luck all. I'm sure the Bengals will score about 25 points on defense today...because I'm sticking with the Giants.

Same goes for Josh Brown. Look for a career day as I bench him for Garrett Hartley!

:lmao: :wall:

Last Play: 2-8-CLE 47(8:39) K.Dorsey pass short left intended for B.Edwards INTERCEPTED by L.Hall at 50. L.Hall for 50 yards, TOUCHDOWN.
Very good thing the cursing filter is activated on this site. :wall:
Very upsetting. Hopefully Fitz will be equally bad.
The Bengals obviously understand that passing in this weather is a bad idea. All of 1 pass so far today. Looks like Benson just fumbled though, so maybe things will look up after all...

Anyone notice that Eric "easy-e" wright striped the bangles for a turnover but ESPN is not giving credit to the browns d?

27 points on my bench. Made the right waiver wire move, scouted the play right, couldn't pull the trigger. If I lose, I deserve to.

Houston D......................Bwhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! Sorry for my observant trend! Johnny Lee Higgins or Johnny Lee Hooker scores two....so far vs the Mighty Texans. But that weak Texan D didn't kill me. My opponent started his own waiver wire D.....the Bengals. Ahhhhhhhhahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! I shouldda sat Andre and started Oakland's Johnny Lee ..........Whomever!

Sometimes ya gotta laugh at it all!

1. SF2. HOUI can almost envision a Bears' D eruption in the super cold weather under the bright lights of MNF, but the Packers offense scares me too much.
I agree, I like Houston BUT Chicago at Home, Monday Night, its so tempting!!! Im gonna roll the dice with Houston.......gulp.
I picked Houston over Cincinnati today. Likely cost me the Super Bowl win. I am down by 36 with Kyle Orton still to play.

Sorry man. I think you and I talked each other into it.I may actually pull out a win this week even with the pathetic performance. My opponent started Pitt.
Mine, too. I'm going to win by a billion points, so no big loss. Hope you pull yours out.
Hi Nigel,I had Cincy in my lineup all week - was starting them with confidence vs. the pathetic Cleve offense. After reading your posts, knowing you are reputed to be one of the most savvy sharks in the FFA, I swithed them out for the Browns at 12:55. I had faith in you.

As it turns out, you suck at fantasy football and the internet in general.

Have a nice offseason,

WM?

I'll make this up to you. Call me.

Nah, I'll just surprise you in the parking lot of your workplace sometime after the holidays so we can work this out. I'll be the guy in camouflage, my best friend Seth who co-owns the team might be with me if his gout clears up.

I can't complain about my Browns pickup in Week 12. Our waivers locked that week and at the time they had the most cherry matchup. Who knew they would put in a crippled kid at QB and take away any chance to pressure the Cincy defense?

Oh, ####.

No expert here. I have the Jets, the Cards, and the Dolphins. On the wire are NE and Hou who have both been mentioned here. Without bombing you with our league's scoring for defensive teams, it's pretty standard with considerations for fumbles, interceptions and defensive TD's, of course, and points and yardage against. I don't remember which week Oakland changed it's coach, but I went back to week 10. To my surprise, (Scoring systems are relative.) these are the defensive scores each week vs Oakland:

week 10 - Panthers D scores - 17 points

11 - @Miami D scores - 15

12 - @ Denv D scores 3

13 - KC - 15

14 - @ SD - 18

15 - NE - 13

Here's where you have to trust my analysis, but I'm pretty happy with 9 or 10 points, minimally. In my league the top defense (Ravens) this year averaged almost 14 points per week, with the Steelers and Eagles closer to 13. The 12th highest D (Cards) averaged almost 11 for whatever average is worth. The Texans scored a bit more than 8 per week. The bottom team, the Lions, have averaged a tad more than 6 per week. I'm starting to like Houston with its offense clicking vs Oakland. Now do I have the ballz to play them?

Check these Defensive scores in your own leagues.
I love your analysis here and just to give another perspective from my league which doesnt count yardage:Week 10 -Panthers D scores -18 pts against Raiders (1FF, 5 sacks, 2 Ints, 6pts allowed)

Week 11: Miami D scores 9 points (6 sacks, 15 pts allowed) yes, six sacks...

Week 12: Denver scores ZERO (Denver D is raked 32nd Def/ST in my league)

Week 13: KC D scores 17 points (1 Def TD, 2 Fumble Rec, 13pts allowed_

Week 14: SD scores 18 points (3 Ints, 1 Forced Fumble, 3 sacks, 7 points allowed)

Week 15: NE scores 12 points ( 1 Def TD, 1 Int, 2 Sacks, 1 Blocked Extra Pt, 26 pts allowed)

I must thank Boss Superman, for as I just broke down defenses against the Raiders,

I can see clearly that I WILL start Houston D in the Superbowl, and IMO, you should too.

Raiders :: WR, TE, LB

Raiders Update: WRs Lelie, Curry Doubtful

David White, San Francisco Chronicle - [Full Article]

The Raiders will likely be without starting receivers Ashley Lelie (calf) and Ronald Curry (turf toe). Both are listed as doubtful for Week 16 against the Titans. Second-year receiver Johnnie Lee Higgins and rookie Chaz Schilens will likely start, with backups Jonathan Holland and Todd Watkins hoping to make their first NFL catches. In addition, TE Zach Miller (shoulder) and FB Luke Lawton (concussion) were limited in practice Wednesday. Also, the team released LB Robert Thomas and signed WR D.J. Hall to the practice squad.

.... and Houston Texans are the answer this week.

Go with kicker Kris Brown as well.

:lmao:
Sorry for pumping the Houston D bandwagon.I also went down with the Houston Texans ship.

Kris Brown turned out to be a nice play, but I was shocked to see the Raiders

revert back to the "Commitment of Excellence " mantra after blowing for so long.

I ended up pulling the game out as it was anyway, so all is well in my little fantasy football world. And in reality in my scoring system the Browns were only 1 point worse than my other option (the Eagles) so it was not a horrible choice. It was not Cincy, but certainly not awful.
