Why aren't the Rams in on the WR FA frenzy? (1 Viewer)

is this a sign that they will get Blackmon at #6?? How is their cap situation???
Rams can't assume Blackmon will fall to #6. Even if CLE doesn't want him at #4, they could certainly trade down. We've about run out of impact WRs for the Rams to go after in FA now, and Lloyd is not coming back from what I'm reading. Manningham isn't special. How are Danario's knees these days? Fantasy owners might want to have another look at his potential value.

Manningham isn't sepcial, but he's better than what they have now - which is what . . . exactly . . . seriously they have no one right now. if they miss out on Blackmon (who i think is overrated but he is still miles better than what they have) then they give Bradford nothing to work with . . . again.

Either they are hoping the young WRs they drafted last season can make a big leap in year 2 or else they are looking to the draft.

Pettis and Salas barely showed up to roll call - DX can't stay healthy, is Gibson still on the roster??

Yuck.

Week 6 @GNB 15.70 Greg Salas 77 yards receiving (7.70 pts)

Greg Salas 8 receptions (8.00 pts)

Week 7 @DAL 5.30 Greg Salas 33 yards receiving (3.30 pts)

Greg Salas 2 receptions (2.00 pts)

Week 8 NOR 10.50 Greg Salas 8 total yards rushing (0.80 pts)

Greg Salas 47 yards receiving (4.70 pts)

Greg Salas 5 receptions (5.00 pts)

Week 9 @ARI 12.90 Greg Salas 59 yards receiving (5.90 pts)

Greg Salas 7 receptions (7.00 pts)

With the money being thrown at the free agent WRs this year, can't say I'm too surprised. Hope the Rams don't end up overpaying for Manningham. :yucky: I'd rather have them look to the draft and letting Pettis and Salas develop. That doesn't necessarily mean a WR with the sixth overall pick, though. They're well-positioned to take one early in the second round, if that's the plan.

Pettis and Salas might just be slot receivers, and that's assuming they even take a step forward this year. I just don't get it.

Floyd at 6?? No way.
No kidding, there are a quite few WR's available in the draft and they don't need to go crazy if Blackmon isn't there. If he's gone all that means if that they'll have their choice of Claiborne or Richardson.

If the Rams don't get Blackmon they can sit and wait and move up for either Floyd or Wright, they have some future #1's to work with to make it happen. Just because other teams are over paying for marginal WR's doesn't mean the Rams should too.

Jeff Fisher doesn't like WRs anyway. He'd rather run the ball 70% of the time and rely on his defense and ST to win the game.

Plenty of young WR's too draft in this draft that you can get late to make any desperation plays. Not like they are built to compete this year anyways. If they did move up to 3, but I doubt they will, they should snag Kalil

I'm in love with what the Rams have done so far this offseason... you wont see any complaining from this guy, especially if they end up picking Trent Richardson and Re-signing Brandon Lloyd :greedy:

Restricted free agent WR Danny Amendola has been informed the Rams will tender him at the second-round level. The tender carries an expected salary of $1.927 million. Though he's sure-handed and able to get open over the middle, Amendola has shown little run-after-catch ability in St. Louis. He won't draw serious interest league-wide at the price of a second-round pick. Mar 9 - 12:43 PMSource: St Louis Post-Dispatch
 big things this year.

1. Mke Wallace is still out there. 2. Jeff fisher is not big on name receivers.
So which is it? They're waiting on Wallace or they don't want a name WR? j/k - ;) Maybe Bradford really like DX and friends and wants to keep some continuity. Honestly, if DX is healthy he's probably a top 15 WR talent-wise. I realize that's a huge if (they don't make fonts that big). Or it could be they are waiting for the market to cool off then go pickup a value WR and add in the draft.

What's the deal with that now that the Rams don't have their original first round pick? Do they just give the #6 instead (no way they'll do this just curious)
Has to be their original 1st or HIGHER. So that isn't an option.Though, if the Rams offered the Steelers their current first round pick (#6), I'm sure they would work something out with them.

I'm surprised at people's surprise. Just because you need a WR doesn't mean you throw money at anyone with a pulse. Jackson wasn't going to happen. The Rams tried to get Meachem and Garcon to visit, but it didn't work out. While Meachem (or possibly Morgan) would have been an intriguing addition, signing Dropsies Garcon to a Redskins-esque deal would have been a mistake. And who's sold on Manningham? Eddie Royal?

We have a lot of picks, and a lot of holes. Fisher and Snead are showing a very important quality: Restraint. Not putting the Rams into the type of hole they've been in for several years. Signing Finnegan and targeting players like Jason Jones and Eric Winston in free agency is far better for this franchise. Pick up young skill players in the draft that fit what you want to do.

Regarding Amendola, I'm hoping he moves on. Salas was really starting to show last year, despite his debacle of a first game. He's far more fluid and nimble after the catch than Amendola, and offers greater upside.

rumors that the Rams are going to trade #6 and #2 to Vikings for #3 and pick Blackmon
This makes sense for both teams.
This is completely a false rumour... do you have a source? Or even a source for the RUMOUR? This makes zero sense for both teams. Kalil would be huge for minny... and no way the rams give up that high 2nd rounder when he might still be there at 6 anyways (or else a secondary prize of claiborne or richardson.

Great posting... couldn't agree more. A Garcon or even a Vjax signing would have been a mistake IMO... can get guys close to there skill level for less than half the price. Although I will say, even though im not the biggest fan of Jackson, he woulda been a great fit in ST Louis

That and I am pretty sure they would have to give up more than just their 2nd to move up to #6. Look at what the price was to move up for Washington. Minny isn't going to just give away the #3 pick.

I completely agree with that. One of Fisher's best qualities is looking to the future and not making any silly moves to win for this year. The smart money is waiting out the first few days of stupid signings and if there isn't someone left the like, wait for the draft or next year. Sorry to say but the Rams aren't winning the super bowl this year.
