One of my "male feminist" colleagues recently posted an article on Facebook about the orgasm inequity between men and women (i.e., that men always orgasm while women only sometimes orgasm). I assured him that, as a male feminist myself, I was doing my part in closing the orgasm gap between the sexes. Whatever it takes to bring about gender equality.
I think Feminism is a bit like Christianity in that many of its basic principles are decent and honorable, but a large number of its loudest, most zealous adherents seem like rather awful people.
Yeah, I get that. I think if we treated "I'm a Feminist" socially the same way we treat "I'm a Christian" in response to those sorts of things rather than the way we treat "I'm a Muslim" we'd have more visible, zealous advocates who aren't insane.
Could men who don't consider themselves feminist also be against rape?
Could men who are for equal rights and equal pay for equal work based on equal qualifications, experience, and output be for those things and yet not consider themselves feminist?
I don't think we can directly blame feminism itself for this one, but it's an example of how some really, really sloppy reporting gets published as long as it supports feminism.
