THE NEWS

The Jaguars aren't going to tell us who'll be their starting quarterback this Sunday any time soon. "I'd just as soon hold that competitive advantage and not give it to them [Tennessee]," head coach Jack Del Rio told the Florida Times Union. "I'd like to hold off that discussion until later in the week." Del Rio did offer up a "correct" response when asked directly if Byron Leftwich was benched entirely because of his injured left ankle, and a "no" when queried if anything had changed regarding Leftwich's status as the team's starting quarterback when healthy.

Our View

Isn't that sneaky? Now the Titans won't know whether to prepare for the immobile Leftwich or David Garrard, who's essentially a running back wearing a single-digit number. What a mastermind Del Rio is. We're not ones to throw around the term "genius," but it might be time for the folks at NFL headquarters to start thinking about renaming the Lombardi Trophy. Or maybe Del Rio is just borrowing a page from the Bill Belichick book of "Screw the people who pay money to see us play, I don't have to tell you anything." Yeah, that's probably closer to the truth. So if you're banking on any part of the Jaguar passing game for your fantasy lineup this week, expect to be kept in limbo as long as Del Rio possibly can. That is, after all, what a "competitive advantage" is.
Why does this guy think that Del Rio owes anything to the people who play fantasy football?

If enough fans' enjoyment of the game is disturbed by your coaching philosophy then you are going to feel some heat and maybe you get fired, especially if you are a bad coack like Jack Del Rio.

What causes fans to get disturbed about their team's coach? A lot of things, wins and losses, style of play, team attitude and increasingly personnel decisions that factor into fantasy football.

Jack Del Rio has no reason to make decisions for fantasy purposes, but those decisions now factor more heavliy in fan opinion of him as a coach, which ultimately could cost him his job.

I'm sure Del Rio could start Osama Bin Laden at QB and if they get a W vs. the Titans the fans will be just fine with it.

Coaches of good passing offenses owe it to the fantasy football community. Del Rio and others - not so much.

He's tall and pretty damn mobile. I bet he's got decent pocket presence as well. Why not?
I bet he runs the QB sneak pretty effectively too.
Humor hits a new low.I want in!

I bet he throws a really good bomb too.
If he gets tackled by the beard is that legal?Beard is part of the uniform like long hair?

His beard is not made of hair?
