Why do the Bears hate WRs? (2 Viewers)

The Bears never had a chance of getting Holmes. Holmes wanted to stay with the Jets.

Unlike the over the hill players you wanted, Roy Williams is not near the end of his career. I wont waist any more time arguing with someone with your tastes though.
I hope you're right, but he's 30 and his stats have been in decline for the past four seasons.I'm glad they got someone, I just don't see why they didn't sell the farm for Sydney Rice.

It's an improvement and that's what I was hoping for. He gives Cutler a big target in the end zone that can win a jump ball. Something he's never had in Chicago.

Bears are killing me by not making a move on a big WR but you guys are acting like this franchise went 2-14 last year!!! Last time I checked they won the division and did it with the WR that everyone is so quick to replace. I am not a fan of Williams but he brings some experience and depth to the table and might allow Hester to focus on what he was made for KR/PR.

I kind of like the Roy siging. They are obviously going to be running a lot of sets with 1RB and keeping the TE in to block. Roy knows the system, so should be integrated quicker than a lot of other Free Agents who are signing around the league, and will be able to play right away in a complex offense. Cutler and Co. should also be better in year 2 of this O.So the question is, what WR positions are being played by whom. Who are their STL counter-parts (Holt Role, Bruce Role, Az Role etc.) and where do these guys rank among re-draft WRs?
I think knox will be the wr1/deep threat, roy will be the wr2/medium-deep routes and bennett will play in.the slot and go.over the middle.

Roy is a big redzone target.

Hate to be negative on the Bears organization but it has been a LONG time since we grabbed the SB title. With that being said, I am not a fan of Roy Williams. He is the typical bust player that I hope the Bears will take a pass on. He was very average in Big D and they had a lot more quality offensive playmakers then the Bears ever had. The Bears have a very poor track record of bringing in "former" players that have a past with coaches. I just don't get this move at all.

We had the 30th ranked offense in the league last year. I think there's room for improvement.
So what SD had the top ranked offense and defense and look what it did for them!!!
Despite this I'd still say there is a positive correlation of good offense/defense and wins. Call me crazy...

The Mushin Muhammed signing went so well that they wanted a repeat...We all know the Bears are cheap as hell. They got the youngest big receiver they could sign cheap. We've already got the streaker to stretch the defense (Knox) and the possession slot guy (Bennett) and the guy who just sucks (Hester). We added an unspectacular piece of great need, a physical receiver who can win a jump ball in the end zone (Williams).I am resigned to it. Hopefully Roy still has enough drive left in the tank to want to make something of his last chance. He's still young but it is hard to ignore that he's had only one elite season and that was in 2006.I am hoping for something like 750 yards and 8 TDs.

I like the Williams signing. He has experience in the Martz system, and will be a great Red Zone target and 1st down target for Jay. Hopefully this will move Hester back to 4 WR sets and special teams, where he shines. When he's back returning punts and kickoffs, the Bears have the best average starting field position in the game. It's a luxury I think they passed on almost all of last season.
