Why No More Clever Nicknames? (1 Viewer)

I don't mean player nicknames, such as Pacman.

I'm talking about things such as the-

Steel Curtain

Doomsday Defense

Purple People Eaters

Orange Crush

Cardiac Kids (Sipe era in Cleveland)

Fun Bunch (Redskin receivers)

Smurfs (Oiler receivers from the "run and shoot" days/or the "chuck and duck" as Buddy Ryan referred to it-still funny)

Hogs

No-Name Defense

Monsters Of The Midway

Killer "B"s (or was it Bees)

Sack Attack

Marks Brothers (Duper and Clayton in Miami)

Triplets?

Air Coryell

One of my favorites was the Buffalo Bills O-line dubbed "The Electric Company" because they turned on "The Juice."

Sure, we had "The Greatest Show On Turf" recently, but are groups of players not together long enough due to free agency anymore, or is there another reason?

Any thoughts on this?

Any other favorites I've missed?

Do we need to simply make up our own here and hope it catches on? Ideas?

I liked the Celtics nickname this year -- Boston Three Party

We could name the Bears offense after a popular TV show -- Lost.

Hey, let's name a WNBA team after another TV show -- American Midol. :goodposting:

Oakland is still the Black Hole, I think. Players and whatever talent they possess simply vanishes into thin air and becomes non-existent.

I just like it when people use the short version of a team name, like for the Patriots (Pats), Buccaneers (Bucs), and Titans :jawdrop: .
