I am a big believer in  making all positions as equal as possible with respect to equal tiers at each position.  So an elite DE or DT or OLB or ILB or S or CB should all score about the same amount of points.  This way you can build your team in many different ways and it gives every owner lots of different options.   it's a very difficult thing to do and takes quite a bit of playing around with the scoring system to try and make it work. 

We have settled on a big play league with sacks worth 8 pts for LB, DE, DB (10 pts for DT) with tackles worth 1 pt (DT for 2 pts).  Int's worth 7 pts with PD worth 2 for all positions.  DB's and DT's get one point for an assist while other's need 2 assists for a point.  This has done a relatively decent job of giving value to each position while also staying in line with the offensive positions too.
