TAMPA - The Bucs have spent the last few days tweaking more than their roster. They’ve been toying with their starting lineup as well.
Though nothing is set in stone, it’s looking like rookie Tanard Jackson will start ahead of Will Allen at free safety in Sunday’s season opener at Seattle.
Jackson had a wildly impressive trainig camp and continued to make plays when the Bucs began playing preseason games. Now it appears he’s going to get a chance to show off his skills on a regular basis during the regular season.
Jackson said he’s not ready to declare hismelf the starter yet, and it’s likely that Allen will continue to get a lot of playing time. It should also be noted that the Bucs tend to work three safeties rather regularly, but Jackson, who has been running with the first teamers since Sunday, seems set to get the bulk of the work at free safety.
