With all these Knocks on Bush not being able to be a Full-load Back... I want to bring up the Question; Can Reggie Bush go over 1000 rushing yds this yr....
Right now through 7 games, Bush has 96 carries for 362 yards plus 43 receptions for 234 yards. That's a per game average of 13.7 carries for 51.7 yards and 6.1 receptions for 33.4 yards. With all these Knocks on Bush not being able to be a Full-load Back... Of course since Deuce has been out, Reggie has seen more playing time and more touches. The last four games Bush has averaged 16.8 carries for 70.5 yards per game and 6.8 receptions for 41.0 yards. If you extrapolate Reggie's first 4 games as the workhorse in N.O. over the remaining 9 games Reggie would end the season with 247 carries for 997 yards and 104 receptions for 603 yards.
I think Reggie has a great chance of posting 1,000 yards rushing and 100 receptions this year. The only other player to do that post-1959 was LT in 2003 (313/1,645ru 100/725rec).
Others coming close are:
Steven Jackson 2006 (346/1,528ru 90/806rec)
Roger Craig 1985 (214/1,050ru 92/1,016rec)
Charlie Garner 2002 (182/962ru 91/941rec)

you jinxed it. Bush's first 25+ yard run will come in week 9.The one puzzling thing about Bush so far is his complete inability to break a long run. He didn't have a 20-yard run in the regular season last year, and we are still waiting for his first run of more than 25 yards. When you compare him with other 2nd-year players, Jones-Drew has 7 runs of 25 yards plus, Jerious Norwood has six (on far fewer carries than Reggie), Maroney and DeAngelo Williams have four, heck even Mike Bell, Michael Robinson, LenDale White and Wali Lundy from the 2006 class all have three 25+ runs apiece...yet Bush, whose whole game is based on scaring opponents to death with his big-play ability, is still waiting for his first rush for over 25 yards. That's the one thing missing, so far, though I'm sure it's just a matter of time.
Bush doesn't have any long runs, but he has broken some very long receptions in the past. He had three receptions of 60+ yards last season, so he clearly has the potential to make big plays. I think one of the factors working against him is his reputation. Guys like DeAngelo Williams, Mike Bell, Michael Robinson, and Jerious Norwood are not the focus of opposing defenses. They don't get any extra attention and teams don't gameplan to stop them. Bush, on the other hand, has arguably been the focus of the opposing team's defensive plan since the moment he stepped on the field as a rookie. Everyone knows who he is and everyone tries to shut him down. He may never be a guy who regularly breaks long TDs, but I think we'll see some 30-40 yard runs from him eventually. The one puzzling thing about Bush so far is his complete inability to break a long run. What the f does housh have to do with reggie bush?I am glad to see him starting to enjoy what will assuredly be a long, succesful career. But boy, it sure chaps my #### to see him and Housh do well while Sjax does close to nothing. What also hurts is adding their stats to my loses (subtracting the acquired players FF points) and realizing I'd have 3 more wins.![]()
Rushing yardage is not a great measure of Bush's productivity anyway. You have to look at receptions too.1000 yards is not special. If my feature back averaged 70 yards rushing per game, we'd probably be losing too many games.
Reggie is right on pace.Through 8 games, Bush now has 113 carries for 434 yards and 50 receptions for 277 yards.Right now through 7 games, Bush has 96 carries for 362 yards plus 43 receptions for 234 yards. That's a per game average of 13.7 carries for 51.7 yards and 6.1 receptions for 33.4 yards. With all these Knocks on Bush not being able to be a Full-load Back...
