Will Driver rise to #2 WR status? (1 Viewer)

Driver was playing the slot (#3) tonight. Has that been the case in prior games or did they do it this week to get him off the match-ups with the "shut down corners"?

Driver is washed up. He has 1 catch for 4 yards as of this point in the game. A number one WR does not disappear like this.
ask Steve Smith ....
This begs an interesting question: Who would you want the rest of the year (for argument's sake say its PPR) -Steve Smith with Carr at QB or Driver?

i have them both. this week a total of 4 pts. between the two. i would have to say at this point, i would rather have a swift kick in the nuts. i see driver in the better situation right now simply because carr is the suck and completely incapable of running an offense.

Sorry, I didn't catch the game last night, but who was primarily covering Driver? I assumed that Champ probably was, but if Driver was in the slot most of the game, I'm guessing that's not the case.

I believe Driver will turn it around. The problem isn't so much Driver as it is Favre's insistence on throwing the ball 80% of the time to his TEs and RBs. Driver has been the unfortunate recipient of bad matchups. He was doing okay early in the season. I still believe he will finish with 1100 and 8 TDs (on pace for 1000 and 4 TDs).

The only good news for Driver is that now teams have watched what James Jones and Greg Jennings do to "shutdown" corners when left one on one. So I hope this is the end of the double teams on Driver.

As I said earlier in this thread, from what I've seen, in 3-WR sets, he's been in the slot at least 75% of the time. I don't think you can conclusively say this is why he hasn't been producing ANYTHING for a month, but it could partially explain it.It also means he's running th shorter routes typically, so it hinders yardage production.I think the optimism with this guy needs to subside. 1000 yards is looking more and more like a question.

And this is different than the past, how?Again, Driver is never a HUGE upside guy... and yes, he has disappointed of late as I admit.

But it was because of his position in the slot that Driver would have had an easy TD if Favre didnt try to throw the ball through a brick wall on the goaline. He is one of only a few WRs that gets consistent GOALINE looks - not redzone, but goaline.

It seems too many people are looking at stats and not the context of the game. Sometimes things just don't break right and that is the feeling I have with Driver.

Jennings is a boom or bust guy because he goes for the big bomb. That is best as a #3 WR because he is more likely to have down games (I am mostly referring to PPR leagues, FWIW) but he will win you some.

Driver is still GB's number one WR and in a passing attack like this, I don't see how he is worse than a #2. An underperforming #2 perhaps - but I wouldnt trade him away unless I got a top 15-18 WR and maybe not unless it was top 12-15... that is his value imo and watching last nights game did not change much for me.
