Will John Fox be fired tomorrow? (1 Viewer)

while carolina might be the worst team in the league, I'm not sure how that all falls on fox, you need SOME kind of roster to be competitive.maybe hurney should fire himself.
Agreed. I hate the way Hurney constantly gives up future draft pick for some project player. For example:Patriots — Traded 2010 third round pick (#89-Armanti Edwards) to Panthers for 2011 second round pick (?-?)

I think the better question is will they finally put DeAngelo on the market now? I mean really, what reason is there to continue to hold on to the guy?
Adam Schefter reported yesterday @ 10:31am via twitter, "At least two teams have called Carolina about the availability of RB DeAngelo Williams. Panthers told each one, They're not trading him."
:lmao:
That was before yesterday's game, but if that continues to be their stance, then that's one sadly ran organization. That said, the Bills said the same thing about Lynch, but sent him packing the same week so we'll see.

Theoretically this strategy falls in line with Richardson's stance on the lockout. I think he has the opinion that pay scales are too top heavy. Early round picks earn too much. So he would rather trade a future first for a second rounder, or spend a future 2nd on a 3rd rounder, etc to save money. They did this both with E Brown and Edwards.Richardson is commonly known as the most vocal pro lockout owner right now. And he has voiced that he must 'practice what he preaches' or something to that effect. So it shouldn't be a huge surprise when he does things like this.

On second thought, I mostly agree with you, except that WR and QB draft selections are usually off the mark.
Other than this year's draft, what other QBs have the Panthers drafted in the Fox era as a possible replacement for Delhomme? They were happy with Delhomme for a long time, and never really sought after another QB in the draft to replace him in the past, so I don't really think it's fair to say they are usually off the mark in drafting QBs. Delhomme was a good QB and fit for the Panthers for many years.

Fox should be fired for allowing Claussen to continue to play. The kid isn't ready and it isn't even close. Matt Moore should be playing and Claussen needs to hit the books, hold a clipboard and get in the weight room. Claussen has zero pocket presence and no arm strength. Did everyone see the play yesterday when LaFell was wide open for a 50 yard TD and Claussen underthrew him by 10 yards resulting in an incompletion. With any other QB back there, that was a TD. For allowing that circus to continue, (and benching Claussen with 3 minutes left doesn't count), Fox deserves to be fired.

Maybe Richardson would like for Claussen to continue to play and get experience. This team isn't going to the playoffs, and they are the youngest in the NFL. Moore isn't the answer so maybe they think it's best for Claussen to go ahead and take his lumps and get some experience.

Who says Moore isn't the answer? From what I've seen Claussen isn't the answer. Good to know that Carolina is tanking games on purpose...

Moore's play says he isn't the answer. I don't mind them giving Claussen playing time to gain experience, and I don't think they are purposely tanking games.

Give the guy some credit....for trying to get fired....He could latch onto a real organization...as a DC. He has not ability to help on the OC side of the ball. He's been a lameduck for 2 years now and can collect a paycheck if sitting on his couch. He would love to be fired and get outta there.

Teams are supposed to punt on 3rd down??

Palmer has blown the last two games. Have you even watched them?
I am guessing the OP is suggesting they should run Benson on 3rd down, eat up the rest of the clock to the 2 minute warning and then punt. It all comes down about how good you feel about your team. If you think your D can stop the opponent's offense then you run the ball and punt. If you think your offense can convert a 3rd-and-13 then you throw the ball and effectively win the game right there.

Since 3-and-13 is not a high percentage play and TB has a pretty good defense I think I would have ran on 3rd and then punted. But I can see what Marvin was trying to do...

The Panthers had some questionable play calls against the Giants in week 1

1-4-NYG 4 (8:53) 3-M.Moore pass incomplete short right to 89-S.Smith (23-C.Webster).

2-4-NYG 4 (8:44) (Shotgun) 3-M.Moore pass incomplete short right to 11-B.LaFell. CAR-33-M.Goodson was injured during the play.

3-4-NYG 4 (8:40) 3-M.Moore pass short right intended for 89-S.Smith INTERCEPTED by 24-T.Thomas at NYG -6. Touchback.

If their owner is too cheap, what would it matter if Fox gets canned? Not like he'll be retained so it really won't cost them anything except what's owed for their next 11 games.
If someone is fired, someone else has to be hired...unless they have one of the coordinators handle their side as well as the head coach duties.Richardson wasn't cheap in the past, now he just wants to win this lockout war. He went from beloved by Panthers fans to hated in a matter of a few months. He has made a committed effort to completely ruin the team this season, and it's sickening.
What did he do or fail to do in that "few months" that made the difference between this being a ruined team and one that played . . . respectably? Well? Excellently? I'm not really sure what you're saying other than to somehow link his ideology in this labor dispute with poor team performance.
He forced the team to keep a large number of rookies that weren't ready to make the team because of rules that were in place to cost the team whether they make it or not. He traded away our best safety for a marginal talent at LB (Chris Harris). His penny pinching caused us to release Brad Hoover, Maake Kemoeatu, Damian Lewis, and others that should have been on the team now. He refused to allow the team to sign any free agents that made anything more than a few bucks over the league minimum. He has refused to re-sign any of the players that are either in a contract year or playing without a contract because of the labor agreement.I could go on. Marty Hurney may be the one who makes the football decisions, but Richardson is the one who refuses to open his wallet this season. He is more responsible for this trainwreck of a team than any coach or player. Richardson is the one that put the entire team in a position to fail, and it's disgusting that he's still expecting fans to pay to come to the stadium and watch games. In fact, he RAISED the prices of PSL's this season.
