Will Vince Young Get a Starting Job Somewhere in 2012? (1 Viewer)

Vince Young is in Philly on a one-year deal and will be a free agent after this season. With the mental meltdowns in Tennessee he had no shot at a starting job following his release from there a year ago. But after a fairly quiet year drama-wise (except for the 'dream team' comment) and a 400-yard passing day in relief of Vick, is the demand for starting QBs in the NFL such that someone will sign him to be their guy?

Whatcha think?

I thought he was a great guy to stash earlier in the year with a decent chance Vick would get injured, but even with that shot, he has not preformed. I would take a chance on him in a dynasty league with large rosters, but would flip him for a pick as soon as I had the chance.

I wouldn't think he'd be brought in as a starter--there are some good prospects coming out from the college ranks.

maybe if he only filled in for two games. that last one had to hurt him some
While I agree he didn't help himself in that last game, I think he'll get a shot nonetheless. Consider the circumstances in Philly the last few weeks. Maclin out. DeSean checked out, and more than a couple of Vince's picks were on DeSean. So Young really was worked with a crew of backup caliber WRs. I don't think anyone will bet the farm on him though. Maybe a 2-3 year deal, with the team able to get out easily if Young can't handle the mental load.

CFL maybe
If TJax got a chance then I don't see why he wouldn't get a chance. If it's not a starting gig then there's a nice warm seat on the Broncos bench waiting for him.
TJax has a much stronger arm and none of the baggage. Not to mention this years draft class added on to last years draft class leads heavily to a supply side when comparing supply and demand.Having said all that, I think I'd rather have Josh Johnson or Matt Flynn when it comes to free agent QB's. Probably Orton as well

So the Seattle game never happened ?

I don't see many possible available starting spots. If there's few, they're usually filled with rookies or proven veterans. Vince needed more spots available and a team to have to gauge his risky future versus that of a rook QB not going super early in the draft. I think it's a poor year to be looking for a starting QB job to open up.

There will be at least five rookies in the first two rounds.

Matt flynn will get a job somewhere.

Peyton manning will get a job somewhere (although he cancels out one of the rookies)

The only way I see vince starting anywhere is as a care taker for a rookie and that isn't likely given his own maturity issues.

So "no" you should not trade for him in your dynasty league.

Well, sure it happened. And I'm not a VY fan. I was just asking the question, and pointing out that he did have one big yardage game.To be fair, he was 17-29 (59%) in the SEA game and 2 of the INTs were really on the WR. Still, the other 2 INTs were awful and he gets full 'credit' for them, including a pick-6.

Again, not a VY fan here. Just asking the question.

He was sitting on the WW in 2 dynasty leagues. Freebie. Left him there in in one, added him in the other, but will probably toss him back.

theres not very many openings for a guy like vince next yr.

browns could decide mccoy isnt the answer and then whiff on the draft

texans schaub may not heal

jax another small chance

miami

skins

kc proly aint moving on from cassel

sea seems set on tjax

so it really seems he needs to sell himself to miami or the skins.

He'll be signed somewhere to be the #2 on a team that has a shaky #1. Probably get a chance to start at some point when that #1 plays poorly and then we'll see how he does with probably his 3rd and final chance.

Hou has said repeatedly in the past they had no interest in Young. They will roll with Yates and possibly keep Leinart who still has another year on his contract.

He might be starting next year, but I get the question as, "Will some team go out and sign Young to be their 2012 starter?"

I doubt that. Has so much changed from last year, when the best he could do was a one year deal to be Vick's caddy?

I doubt it. Not based on what he has done. He could be brought into Denver to backup Tebow or he could stay in PHI. I doubt he gets handed a starting gig. At best, he could be brought in somewhere to compete.

Other than Peyton, I think Josh Johnson is going to be the QB to watch this off season. I'm already scooping him up in my deeper dynasty leagues.
