will witherspoon? (1 Viewer)

he's been pretty well touted over the last couple years ---- I had him for most of last season and while he was pretty consistent, I wouldn't say all that spectacular, even if the #'s pile up by the end of the year.

now, I notice that his 2nd quarter production has about doubled his first quarter, which actually means some pretty good games.

I was tempted to chalk this up to the horrible st louis offense, but the o was just as bad in the first quarter, I'd think.

any particular reasons, or is it just random distribution?

I started every game until his last two, which were two of his better games this year.

It would be nice to know the reason for his relatively low numbers early and his good number in recent weeks.

I'm not learning much from some spreadsheet masturbation.

Witherspoon seems to have significantly increased the percentage of time he's made a tackle on running downs (from around a 16% average in Week 1-4 to over 30% in Weeks 5, 7 and 8. I'm not seeing a big difference in rush attempts faced or tackle opportunities over that time period or a clear difference in supporting cast other than Leonard Little.

I've yet to see a STL game this year, but it would appear from the stats and rush yards per game allowed that the STL defense and Witherspoon in particular, has played better over the last four games.

While there's no reason to suspect that his opportunity will drop, I'm still a little nervous about his ability to hold up over a full season as discussed here.

this is the kind of stuff I love.any chance on a thread discussing some of the average #'s of this type, and some of the exceptional players when measured against those kind of stats?

solos should drop, but as long as he kills the QB, we'll rejoice
Solos may drop, but slightly if at all. Sounds like Haslett will use Will on passing downs where he was not likely to record a solo anyway. Also, sacks count as a solo tackle as well as a sack.
