Wk 6 FAAB bids (1 Viewer)

I was curious to see what everybody was planning on bidding for the top waiver pickups for the week. This is how I think the majority of the bids would look but am interested in hearing feedback. The number next to each player is actually a percentage of the dollar amount that you have left. Depending on positional need, this number would obviously fluctuate but these would be averages:

Tebow 35%

Battle 20%

Carter 10%

D. Brown 5%

Baldwin 10%

Ballard 5%

I did see where another board member speculated that he was going to bid 20% of his FAAB dollars on Tebow.

I am thinking about going with a bid around this level, as my other starters are Flacco and Campbell

Tebow went for 100%

Battle went for 61%

And another owner claims he went 100 on Tebow but had the better record.

People are panicking out there, bid big if you want him.

I got Tebow for 50%...wouldnt touch battle unless desprate, TJ had 5.2 ypc it was the Colts, not sure why everyone is running out to get him.

I have $90 left & bid $89 on Battle.
As a Chiefs fan, I truly hope that I am worg but I think this was foolish. Battle is not that good. The Chiefs schedule in the second half is tough. They will not be gringing it out with Jackie Battle as they will play from behing alot. Indy's run D is bad to begin with and banged up. Hope this works out for you but I am staying away from him completely.

Tebow went for 3% in our league. 10 teams, passing td's 4 pts, QB rushing yards 1.2 points/10 yards.
I got him for 7% in my league (and did not want to even bid that much but need him for week 7). I think people dumping their entire budget on Tebow is not a smart move at all. He may put up average/little above average points (should have similar production to Hass and Campbell imo).I have Brady (ship it) so I do not plan on keeping Tebow around only until week 7 (unless he does something absurd similar to Cam Newton week 1)

On another note, I really like the idea of this thread. I am not much of a writer but it would be nice to see someone do a weekly thread on FAAB $ for players on the WW.

Since a lot of highly competitive leagues use a FAAB budget, it would help provide insight on how much bids typically go for when a player on the WW busts out in a given week.

I had $671 left (start the season as $2000)

I bid $671 and was the 2nd highest bidder. The owner that won him bid $1001 (he had all $2000 of his BB$)

:kicksrock:

14-team, 16-man rosters.

I went all-in on Tebow for my remaining $80 ($150 budget league). With Rivers at QB, I've not been happy.

Jason Avant strangely went for $75 to another owner. The previous high bid for the season had been my $40 bid for David Nelson a few weeks ago. I needed help at QB and reasoned that there aren't that many opportunities each year to grab a *potential* top-5 player at the position off waivers, especially with the odds dropping each week going forward. I bid 40% in my other 2 leagues to get Newton after Week 1 and am glad I did.

Can't believe Tebow would have any more upside than Qbs on waiver wires and guppies are wasting their fantasy dollars on him. sure some keeper dynastys ok.

In my 16 team very competitive league, the only starting Qb on waivers is Grossman, who was just dropped and will probably get bid on. Redraft. Care to make your statement a little less generalized so that it includes deep, competitive leagues as well?ETA: nevermind...I see this is your first season of fantasy football.

won with 15% on tebow, lost to 22% in another league

also had really low waiver priorities but still won him off waivers for all 3 of my other leagues.

Doesn't seem like people are as high on him as people here are, which is good.

I bid $33 of my $150 FAAB money (22%) on Tebow. My other QBs are Campbell and Flacco so I was willing to take the gamble that Tebow might be able to replicate fantasy stats similar what he posted over the last few games of the 2010 season and what he flashed over the course of the half game this week.

I agree. If TebowNewton had been the BroncosPanthers starter at the beginning of the yearpreseason, his ADP would have probably been in the QB15 - QB18undrafted range. Basically, borderline waiver wire material. He has one decent half at homegame on the road against the ChargersCardinals and now people are willing to break the bank to aquire him? I say no thank you. I will let someone else make that mistake.

And you could end up missing out on a Qb who is a top 3 QB. If you have a top 3 QB already (Brees, Vick, Cam, Brady) then you can afford to do that, but if your top QB is not in the elite tier, you are leaving the possibility of an elite fantasy QB on the table to save a few bidding bucks? Bidding bucks?! This late in the season there are not likely to be alot of break out players who will demand your whole bidding buck wallet anyway. Every game Tebow has played last year and now this he has put up big fantasy numbers. It isn't as if people are basing it only on the 17 points he put up in the second half of this last game.

My $100 FAAB league went totally wacky this week.

Some guy bid $40 on Darrius Heyward-Bey.

Meanwhile my 'what the hell' $16 keep-the-league-honest bid for Tebow actually held.

I also own Michael Vick so I suppose now I've got one heck of a backup.

Will make nice trade bait down the road.

I picked up Tebow 2 weeks ago, in both my big $ leauges, for $1 out $1,000.

To those that are denigrating him... who are you starting? Seriously, unless you have a top 3 QB, the dude is worth 50% + of your bidding $. At this point, it is HIGHLY unlikely you're going to find ANYONE with more upside.

Basically bid 50% of my remaining budget ($31 of $65 remaining); I had Sanchez and Flacco as qb's.

My thinking is, there is not one other player left un-rostered in my league who could have a bigger impact to a season than Tebow. He may bust and sit the bench after week 7 but the small sample we do have indicates he's worth the gamble.

The move itself will not ruin a season but it could make a season.

:lmao: I definitely think Tebow is the priority waiver pickup this week. Especially for anyone in need of QB help... But only Tebow inspires such terminology. Any other player might cause debate as to his talent or lack there of... but only Tebow is 'denigrated' if everyone doesn't drink the kool aid.

God bless ;)

Way to answer the question and make a counterpoint... Won't use words that are too big for you going forward, please accept my apologies.

I was editing my post to do exactly that at about the same time you replied... I see you're fairly new here and pretty itchy to respond. Welcome none the less. No need to dumb anything down around these parts my friend. Maybe just a bit more careful with the hyperbole next time. Good luck with Tebow. Oh, and go Heels! :P

Just killing time on a Weds night after a day of golf in Chapel Hill...I don't mean to "quarrel" (yes, I am being "facetious" - see what I am doing here?) - honestly would have used that word for any other player.Indeed, hopefully Tebow works out for me... I need him (probably like a lot of people reading this thread). Otherwise I'll be looking forward to basketball season sooner rather than later.Good luck with your FF season.

Picked up Tebow with 25% bid and surprised no else offered more than 4%. Oh well, I am aboard the hype train, even though I am a Rogers owners and will only probably use him for my bye week.

you get points for rushing yards/TDs from your QB right?

I went $179.00 out of my remaining $220 for Tebow. I am ok at running back, but I really think Tebow could be top 5 with his rushing, whether or not anyone feels he is a great NFL QB. I wasn't short at QB but I figured he would be better off on my squad than anyone else's.

:yes:Agree with playing keepaway with someone with that kind of upside on the waiver wires. I hope to be able to sell high for a positional upgrade after Aaron Rodgers bye week. Expensive, but I think this could be the Michael Vick type lotto ticket to own right now.

Allow me to one-up you. Went 25% and NOBODY ELSE bid on him. 10 team league, but there are some QB-needy teams out there. Very surprising. Let me embarrass myself further...I had Tebow last week, picked him up for $1, then dropped him for Kolb. Figured he wouldn't get a look until after the bye. Really botched this one.Happy to say I snagged Battle, though.

In 3 of my local $$ leagues I got Tebow all three times ... even with late ww position which is shocking as while there are a few weak owners he's not exactly a secret.

With a $100 FAAB budget most teams are already <$50 although several are still $90+. This is a high $$$ very competative league.

I wanted Baldwin or Williams but only bid around $13 figuring WR3's grow on trees. You better hit when you spend that much and Baldwin will compete with 3 other WR's after the bye. Damian has more of a shot at sustained WR3 value and is the one I regret not going in bigger for but that's still 1/3 of your FAAB for a low end lottery ticket.

Dammit Donald went for $24 while Woodhead, Ringer, and Ricky all went for basically $0 today.

I wanted Ward for bye coverage but he's too inconsistant to pay much for. Braylon went this week and Clayton went for quite a bit last week. Tebow got picked up for free last weekend. Smarter preemptive pickups are making the WW less likely to produce an obvious stud than ever before. I've been stashing Redman and Taiwan Jones for awhile for example.

Here's a few bigger names/bids who went today:

acquired Baldwin, Doug SEA WR for $51.00

acquired Williams, Damian TEN WR for $37.00

acquired Brown, Donald IND RB for $24.00

acquired Painter, Curtis IND QB for $14.00

acquired Ward, Hines PIT WR for $6.00

acquired Hill, Jason JAC WR for $5.00

acquired Bailey, Dan DAL PK for $4.00

acquired Sanzenbacher, Dane CHI WR for $3.00

acquired Edwards, Braylon SFO WR for $2.00

acquired Ballard, Jake NYG TE for $2.00

I went with some low end guys, saving my FAAB for later. With Law Firm sitting out today I may strike PPR gold with Woodhead who was cut last week. I'm pretty thin over bye weeks so Bess, Burleson, or Roosevelt may actually start for me this week.

acquired Roosevelt, Naaman BUF WR for $0.00

acquired Woodhead, Danny NEP RB for $0.00
