Workout music — whatcha got? (1 Viewer)

Really in a rut here.  Usually enjoy hip hop or hard rock, but it’s gotta be something with some energy and a beat. Can’t find anything I like these days. The Weeknd was doing it for me for a while; I’ve done way too much Eminem; most recently I’ve been reverting to Girl Talk: Feed the Animals, which is great stuff to workout to, but I can’t listen to the same album forever.  Oh and the Amazon Music workout playlists are pretty terrible

What are you listening to these days for workouts/running?

TIA

Strugil Simpson has been a nice change of pace lately. The whole new album, but for workout purposes go back to Call To Arms too.

Megadeath has always worked nicely.   Slayer's Reign in Blood is the ultimate motivation.   That was a leg day staple for years.   It makes me want to destroy.

I am always trying to find something that is upbeat but not testosterone angst bench press stuff. Girl talk is solid but I also found repetitive day in. Some others to check out :

The beths

The Courtney's

Charly Bliss

Parquet courts

I have not had luck finding a playlist that hits all of the marks

I also enjoyed Jack’s Mannequin: Everything in Transit. Underrated album in this genre and great for workouts.

And I’m sure I’ll catch grief for this, but Fallout Boy is some great stuff for both cardio and lifting.

Do you like dj sets Otis?  I love a good hip hop dj set, try the free app mixcloud out.  Clif the supa producer is a good start.  They always bring upbeat stuff and keep the energy high

Yep. Quite a bit of the Cork Tree record and Ain't a scene are sprinkled throughout the workout playlists.

Reminds me that Welcome to the Black Parade (My Chemical Romance), The Ataris cover of Boys of Summer, Miss Murder (AFI), and some Jimmy Eat World (Sweetness, Bleed American, Praise Chorus) are on there too.

Forgettable bands, but with some decent workout music.

I've never been a "DJ" kind of guy, but I'm in such a bored rut and willing to try new things.

Welcome to the Black Parade is a top notch workout tune.

This isn't dj like house music or edm it's just dudes mixing songs and making a fun 30 to 60 minute set

Operation Ivy

Common Rider

Early Rancid

Lars Frederiksen and the Bastards

Transplants

Bouncing Souls

H20

Early Green Day

What Hip Hop you been listening to? I grabbed several Drake and Rick Ross tracks off the Amazon Prime Popular Hip Hop channel on Amazon Music and several of those were decent with good beats. And Cardi B had a couple decent ones too. :bag:

I grew up in an area in the swamplands of south Florida where I was the only guy that didn't like country music.  Never got into it.  I've listened Sound and Fury perhaps fifty times, watched the Netflix 'movie' another 10 and i'm not big into anime, either.  What a fantastic record.

My go to in the gym is usually Rage Against the Machine.  That cool Toadies record from the way back works too.

Sticks of NW Ohio, but I can relate. And I agree. I now understand what all the country people meant when they said he would be the one to save country - because he's not cut from the formula. Never listened to him until this fall, but I seek this album out multiple times per week - and sometimes Sailors Guide too.

Next time I'm working out I'm blasting this song. Should attract some looks.
