Worst halftime show ever? (1 Viewer)

i'd be fine if they just scrapped all musical festivities and just had Peyton/Tom/Drew and Rivers compete in a QB challenge and had Chris Johnson vs. whoever in fastest man races like they used to have for pro bowl events. nfl craves speed and QB play

Tron meets Fergie.

what was Slash doing there? a has-been rocker playing riffs from a song that was a hit 20 years ago????? c'mon now.

really?? still trying to figure out why we had to sit through the 12 second Slash appearance ... :own3d:

I can't understand why they don't get the Foo Fighters - Times Like These, Learn to Fly, My Hero, Monkeywrench,The Pretender, Everlong - would kill - And Dave Grohl screaming would be awesome. They play the largest stadiums in the world so they know what it takes.
I love the Foo, but Dave screaming is not the best way to say they should be next. As screaming turns off some people. To the young and old remark....IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH AGE, GOOD MUSIC IS GOOD MUSIC. A guitar is a guitar, a drum is a drum, and an auto tuner is a...computer? Its a matter of taste, and its why their are different types of music. However, determining the basis of a musical performance is easy, HOW WAS THE MUSIC?I am a huge fan of Country, Rock, Pop, or anything that sounds good as music is majorly involved in my occupation and I have no choice to not listen to it all. A big part of finding good music or discussing anything is not being bias, and that fails in this thread, as most who like the BEP are not fairly judging the whole performance. Do they have some good songs yes, they even had many hits. The debate here is the entire performance. If it was just about the light show, just have the lights and no singers. Whatever did they do with performaces before there were lights? I'm sure everyone waiting to see the BEP, was saying "Oh my god, I can not wait to watch the lights", or the manager was saying "dont worry about your vocals, we have lights", NO. The singing was god awful. But to talk age, the people who like this type of music are generaly young, hence why pop music is in search of the target demo of women 12-24...that can not be disputed. And in another angle, it shocks me, when advertisers buy advertising for football games the demo is men 25-54, and they choose a halftime show like this for the Super Bowl which is odd. Now you can defend that they are trying to get many women to watch, well when you do that, your gonna lose some men.I would bring up past shows, but we are talking this year, so no need to. Great artists I believe would work for halftime, if they can actually sing well during it....Kenny Chesney, Garth Brooks, 3 Doors Down, Nickelback, Taylor Swift (She is more pop now than country), Beyonce, and Usher (even though he sang one song this year), AC/DC maybe, if his ability to sing will hold out for the show.

I know it's not the Superbowl but this is easily the worst halftime show I've ever seen. (I had the misfortune of witnessing it live.)

:lmao:

Bon jovi, acdc, fleetwood mac, matchbox 20, John meyer.

All better. I loathe acdc but think they would be a solid choice who most would enjoy.

This year was crap, are they relevant? Must be but it's pathetic to bring out just a guitar player and sing a song like a typical drunk at a karaoke bar. That was brutal.

agree it was insane to have to endure that show. Luckily I didn't.

If they are going to waste pick a garbage band that does stupid things in the name of "show" which just ticks everyone off anyway, then could they make a couple folks happy like me and book a metal band like Slayer to destroy the place....that way when everyone is mad afterwards they can claim that was "the plan".

It would be awesome! LOL

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but every time I see the long-haired dude from BEP, I can't help but think of the Apache Chief from Super Friends.

Am I alone on this?
I was waiting for him to pull out the ol' "Inyuk-chuk" and save that disaster of a halftime show.I just don't understand how anyone can say it was good. I don't mind as much when my girlfriend puts on one of their CDs, but even she could separate her enjoyment of the groups music to say that was terrible.

If you're going to not satisfy the regular viewing audience then go for someone who isn't 100 and has had a radio hit recently like Bieber or Gaga.

I honestly enjoyed it... Not sure about all the hate.. Some people just love to hate and I feel sad 4 u.
I feel sad for your lack of ability to distinguish good from bad. It helps a lot in life.Having taste is not the same as "loving to hate" and I also turned it off as soon as I saw who it was. Enjoyed watching Nemo with my 2.5-y-o instead.Whatever happened to, oh, I don't know, Marching bands? Or highlights? Shoot, just run commercials.

"But if you only have love for your own race

Then you only leave space to discriminate

And to discriminate only generates hate

And when you hate then you're bound to get irate, yeah

Madness is what you demonstrate

And that's exactly how anger works and operates

Man, you gotta have love just to set it straight

Take control of your mind and meditate

Let your soul gravitate to the love"

"So I could ask myself really what is goin' wrong

In this world that we livin' in people keep on givin'

in

Makin' wrong decisions, only visions of them dividends

Not respectin' each other, deny thy brother

A war is goin' on but the reason's undercover

The truth is kept secret, it's swept under the rug

If you never know truth then you never know love"

- Black Eyed Peas

"I keep looking at the sky

'Cause it's gettin' me high

Forget the herse 'cause I'll never die

I got nine lives

Cat's eyes

Usin' every one of them and running wild

'Cause I'm back

Yes, I'm back

Well, I'm back

Yes, I'm back

Well, I'm back, back

(Well) I'm back in black

Yes, I'm back in black"

- ACDC

"He stands like a statue,

Becomes part of the machine.

Feeling all the bumpers

Always playing clean.

He plays by intuition,

The digit counters fall.

That deaf dumb and blind kid

Sure plays a mean pin ball !"

- The Who

Alot of the people saying that BEP arent music and doesnt have the quality of lyrics like they used to have, so i picked out a couple examples of the songs that people have mentioned as " music " and compared it to the lyrics of a BEP song. Music is really going down hill these days

Point taken, except that you probably shouldn't have made the comparison to the Rock Opera Tommy.

Again someone who is bias, hence the long verse for BEP, and the quick 4 lines from AC/DC and the Who.Now I'll open with I'm not a huge fan of any of these, so my opinion is unbias. Its easy to compare one song, now take out the song that wasnt even made big by them, Justin Timberlake and his success made that song a hit, (As the record rep told me one time, if he wasnt on it, it would have never went for adds, which means getting airplay) However, the message in that song is a good one. "Where is the Love", not bad, but to compare them to legends in the R&R Hall of fame, well... is dumb. Do me a favor, post the "My Humps" from BEP and Lyrics from "Thunderstruck" from AC/DC for comparison.

This is the stupidest, most asanine argument I've ever heard. You took a early 2002 BEP song when they actually still sang about issues and compared it with the shortest lines you could fine of a acdc/Who song?Ok...why don't you try that with say...lady hump? Or how about...if you say...ADD IN INSTRUMENTS? You know, those things that musicians usually play with when they're part of a band? And while we're at it...what's up with these ######ed names like apl.de.ap? Or Ke$ha. How are you suppose to pronounce that? Kay-dollar sign-ha?

Be more condescending. I feel badly for you about your attitude. It's fine if you don't like it and turn it off. It's also fine if others do like it. Not all people have the same tastes in music or music styles and it's not necessarily bad music just because you consider it to be bad.Obviously marching bands, highlights, and commercials don't draw the biggest viewing audience. If it did, that's what they would be playing.

The ACDC lyric was just to show that they use repetition as well. And its not just one dumb lyric from the who, the WHOLE SONG is about a deaf dumb blind kid PLAYING PINBALL! And please, define INSTRUMENT for me??Instrument - contrivance or apparatus for producing musical soundsJust cause its not the same instruments that you grew up to doesnt make them not instruments. Alot of performers do their own music, they just dont play it while they perform. What instrument did Michael Jackson play? I guess he wasnt much of a musician either...

Uh, singing about "issues" makes for good lyrics?

Music is dumb...and the only thing dumber, is trying to get 9.5 million people to agree upon a particular artist/group. Why do we need music at halftime? And if we do, let the best college band of that year, do their best "Drumline" imitation and then show us some dogs chasing down frisbees. You want to get "risky", have camera men follow people around at halftime in the concession stands, etc., with Jon Stewart and Dennis Miller ripping on them...NO ONE agrees on music choices, so it is silly to try to appease the masses.

I talked to 3 different people independantly who were there....everything else about the day in Big D was a disaster, but they all loved the show live.

I avoid all of them. It irks me the NFL has turned the Super Bowl into a Hollywood affair. Geez just let me watch the game without all this other stuff.

It's like they want to make it more exciting but football is great all by itself.
