Would the Giants be in the NFCC if Tiki was still on the team? (1 Viewer)

You have to wonder what he is thinking about right now. I understand he was comfortable walking away but had he thought he was leaving a potential SB team...not sure he couldn't have stuck it out one more season. Would the Giants be better or worse with Tiki on the team? How many playoff games did they win when Tiki was the starter?

Tiki was a great running back in both running and catching. Why would the Giants be worse this year if he was on the team?

This is a very good question, which I do not know the answer to. All I do know is, I'm happy after he threw his former teammate under the bus before the season started, they ended up doing better without his ###. I am grateful for Tiki's Giant career and never would have conceded that the running game would be equal or even better without him around before the season. But I think it's a good thing and has to hurt his giant sized ego.

I truly, truly believe they would not have.

Perhaps Tiki would have started factioning and fractioning the room after the first two loses when the early grumblings already started in NY.

Perhaps he would have waited until on of Eli and the teams inconsistent stretches and leak something out to the media.

Perhaps Tiki's presence would have resulted in Coughlin not feeling comfortable trying to treat his full team more like adults while also having some fun to their routine.

Now, had Bradshaw not burst on the scene late in the year, I don't think the Giants would have had enough to overcome the loss of Tiki's HoF talent on the field. However, with Bradshaw, I think while Tiki would still bring something more to the table, it wouldnot be aneough to overcome his repeated negative presence in the locker room (from everything I've read, heard, all that. I know im not actually in the room).

I agree. I liked Tiki as a player, but thought he stepped over the line with his criticisms of Eli earlier this season. I've enjoyed watching Eli come of age and make Tiki look like an idiot this season.

Tiki was the reason the Giants were broken apart last year. Tiki was a good player but he was an ##### last year who showed zero leadership skills. I think he has looked like a jerk in his comments and I was glad to see him gone.

OTOH, did Tiki's comments prod Eli into becoming a leader? Maybe he's risen through the adversity.

Classic Ewing Theory.
HUH?????????You could not find two players who were different than Ewing and Tiki. Ewing WAS the team, the heart and the soul. Tiki pulled apart the fabric of his team and was always, ALWAYS, Me-Ki first.

I think he's talking about Lame-### Bill Simmons and the theory of how a team plays better despite losing the face of it's franchise.

Here's how the Giants fared in the playoffs with Barber on the team . . .

97 L MIN 22-23

00 W PHI 20-10

00 W MIN 41-0

00 L BAL 7-34

02 L SF 38-39 (the game the G-men got shafted on the last play on the botched kick)

05 L CAR 0-23

06 L PHI 20-23

I believe they would have, the running backs last night didn't do anything he couldn't do.

If you want to say he did this or he did that behind the scenes, that's fine but there's no proof one way or the other.

The main reason I believe they'd still be in the same position they are in now is that the NFC is wide open. You don't have to be a great team to get to this spot. The Giants flopped big time the 2nd half of the season and they are in the NFC championship game.

So, I believe just having a mediocre conference has to do with it as much as anything else.

cuz he basically tore the team apart last year
Some things that happened last year never would have if he wasn't retiring, so I don't buy that as why they would be worse this year if Tiki was still playing with them.

This Thread didn't get as much play as it should have...

I think the truth is coming out that no matter how good Tiki Was on the field, he might just have been a very poor team leader.

I can't wait to hear his comments leading up to the superbowl. I am sure he will take credit somehow.

The Giants did go to a Super Bowl with Tiki before. I think they would be just as successful running the ball this year if he was still there. Tiki was a great player.

The Giants would have imploded after the first two weeks. Those were painful losses and Tiki would have caused major problems.

I do think Shockey not being there has helped. This afternoon on NFL Network, they were breaking down how often Shockey ran bad/wrong routes, and was always browbeating Eli about not throwing him the ball enough. Boss doesn't do those things.

I can't wait for the media questions leading up to the Super Bowl about Tiki's comments regarding Eli's weak leadership. :lmao:

F U T B

The answer to the question in this thread is NO. Tiki is a cancer, and Eli's the cure!

The sad part of this is that I really liked Tiki up until he started working in the booth. I think he missed being in the spotlight and made those comments to feel relevant again. It is hard for me to think a guy who needs to have the glory would be the best of leaders on a team.
