In 1 of my 2 leagues...

From the 10 out of 12 slot, picked Holt at #10, CJ at #15. 9-4 record. Jamal and Freddie are my starting RBs, so I doubt I can win it all. My strategy was to be very strong at positions other than RB. So I have Gonzo, BAL D, CHI D, Palmer, Brees, Colston, and Glenn. Figured I could pick up FA RBs along the way...backfired cause I won early and couldn't get good RBs off the WW. Maroney and Fargas are my backup RBs. Traded DeAngelo away in week 6 for Maroney Should have had the nads to hold onto him.

Of course, in my other league I picked Lamont and CJ at #9 and #16. Made the playoffs, but that strategy probably worked even worse with Jordan being a bust. I have no chance in that league.

In the playoffs after going WR - QB with my first 2 picks. (Late rnd 1 picked Manning instead of a tier 2 Rb. Then grabbed C Johnson).

Was lucky enough to draft C Taylor in the middle of my draft. Also drafted W Dunn in middle rounds and Tatum Bell late.

It was a tough decision but I could not pick C Williams or R Brown with my first pick ahead of Manning. Next year I think it will be a no-brainer to pick a RB if you have one of the first 5 picks.

guy in our dynasty league that started this year went S.Smith & C.Johnson rounds 1 & 2, then got C.Taylor and Addai rounds 3 & 4, he is in the playoffs and my pick to win it all in our league

went 2-for-2 with that strategy.

14 team redraft, went Chad #1 and Steve Smith #2 from the 11 slot. squeaked in as the 6 seed, but i think i'm one of the top 3 teams there. i also traded a later round pick to move up to grab Javon Walker in round 5, who i just traded last week for Hasselbeck (was a McNabb owner).

12 team keep-3. kept Steve Smith and Gates (we have a lottery for unused keeper slots - i drafted maroney with that). after that, went Darrell Jackson, TJ Housh, Glenn, and Barber III (in that order) with a couple extra picks in the first couple rounds from off-season trades. similar strategy in going WR heavy though. clearly i was light at RB the first 7-8 weeks, but i've had the best WRs, flex, and TE all season.

in both leagues i'm the 6 seed, but looking very strong. i attribute that to MBarber's late resurgance (i have him in both) and some other factors. i also grabbed Colston preseason in free agency in both after the Stallworth deal.

this WR-WR strategy worked very well for me this year.

Guy in my league went Steve Smith/Chad Johnson at the turn in a 14 team league. Got Dillon and McNabb in rounds 3 and 4, and was able to round out the rough edges and the ups and downs of his squad with quality skill players like Crumpler, great upside picks like Marion Barber, and later on, solid waiver p/ups like Romo.

That team is first in the league.

Goes to show that if you are picking late in a 14-team league, you have other options besides going with the stud RB theory.

Yep - and I actually went WR-WR-WR in a start 3WR, PPR league. (Smith, Holt, Roy)

was able to draft FWP, Deuce & TJones. Then traded some of them for Brees, Portis & Alexander, without moving any of the 3WRs. so it's worked out nicely.

My belief is that almost ANY reasonable draft strategy will work, if you draft with an eye on trading later!

Made the playoffs in 12 team fanball league from the 6 spot, Steve Smith and Chad Johnson in rounds 1 and 2. Pickup up Dunn and F Taylor later. With E Manning and Bulger too.

worked great for me....went Harrison and Chad at the 2,3 turn....but I had the #1 pick....LT2...so I guess that skews things alot...

Not a draft, but I spend the bulk of my auction money on S. Smith, C. Johnson and Gates. Got Vick for cheap, and bargain shopped for rbs. (C. Taylor, K. Jones, F. Taylor and the Bells) I am 9-5 and the only team to clinch in our 14 week season.

Suprised to get C. Taylor cheap since the auction is in MN, but the league is split with Viking fans that love to hate the Vikes, and Packers fan. Next year the Viking fans will drive up his price.

Had a new Dynasty draft before the season. I went RB-WR-WR.

Lt2, Boldin, Chambers.

Chambers kind of killed me but i was able to grab colston in the last round of the draft.

Two years ago, I went WR-WR and ended with a 13-1 record and the most points in the league. Gone RB-WR both years since and haven't done so hot ... maybe I should revisit this WR-WR thing

Ni ....

I went

QB-WR-WR-WR-RB-TE-WR-RB-DEF

Manning-Boldin-Harrison-Wayne-Ced Benson-Heap-TGlenn-Mbarber-Car

9-4 clinched playoff berth

Drafted THenry in the 17th

Traded Harrison for Tbell

Start

Manning

Boldin

Wayne

Glenn

MBarber

THenry or Tbell

Heap

Gould or Graham

Car or Jax

No PPR

Went CJ/Holt at the turn, then Gates in the 3rd round. Ended up with Jamal Lewis/TJones/Freddy T as RBs, but managed to trade for Gore & Westbrook during the season to shore up my running game (had to give up Holt).

In the playoffs, but probably don't have a shot at the title.

I went WR,Wr,Te! Holt, Chad J, Gates, Similar to Gman8343

messed up in the 4th by taking droughans, but got chester T next.

Started off real slow, but once Chad J and Gates heated up, won 5 in a row and clinch the playoff with a win this week.

Harder road than usual doing it that way, but its working out

Went Smith/Holt in my 14-team IDP league and ended up with the #1 seed. I think that was mainly due to drafting Gore in round 3 and some strong IDPs though. We only start 1 RB with a RB/WR/TE flex position so I went back and forth between TJones/FTaylor/ABryant in my flex trying to play matchups.

Yes.

In a 14-team league, I took Steve Smith 9th overall, and Marvin Harrison 20th. I then got Chester Taylor and Frank Gore in the 3rd and 4th rounds. Woot!

Wow. So you're saying you got FWP in the 4th round and that without moving one or your three WR's you were able to get Portis and Alexander, both of which should of been top 5 picks this year? Intresting league.

12 team redraft with IDP drafting from 10 spot

went WR, WR, RB, RB, LB QB, RB, LB, WR

Drafted Brees in the 17th round for backup :banned:

Drafted Greg Jennings in the 18th

Got C Johnson, T Holt, D Davis ugggh, D Foster, K Bulluck, E Manning, C Benson, A Davis (LB), B Edwards

drafted a great defense - Foster did real well for me until he got hurt. Been using waivers to pickup RB's throughout the year for my #2 and made one trade. Traded a LB Farrior for MBII (best trade I've ever made) early on.

I am currently at 10-3 in a 3 way tie for 1st. One more game before playoffs. Got me to the playoffs - not sure how far I can go with juggling backup RB's MBII, Benson, M Robinson, Wright. Depends on my WR's and very solid defense.

Yup - first off, it's only a 1-teamer so that helps. But here's the baby steps I made, from a buy low, sell high angle.

Week 6 -- traded W.Parker, W.Dunn & D.Mason (my WR4)

for S.Alexander (when injured) & R. Wayne (when he was struggling a bit)

then week 9 (after Wayne blew up for 3 tds) -- traded Wayne for Portis

I owned Wayne for all of 3 weeks, and parlayed him into (what was at the time) a promising backfield for the playoffs. Well, at least Alexander is still around. :-( I can't say it always works out well, because of injuries like Portis. But knowing when to buy low & sell high is critical imo.

I think the Penguins are going to win it all.

In a first year 10 team dynasty I went RB-WR-WR-WR.

Got Ronnie, Fitz, Boldin, Roy. I'll probably narrowly miss the playoffs (I'll need to win next week and two other teams will need to lose for me to make it). However, had Fitz been healthy all season, it might be a different story.

I was able to get Thomas Jones (5), Benson (7), Jamal Lewis (6), Fred Taylor (11), MJD (late), Betts (late). The one problem that comes with having a slew of borderline RB2's is it makes lineup decisions a #####, and I've often made the wrong decisions only to lose by the slimmest of margins.

I've since traded away Roy, Thomas Jones, Fred Taylor, Betts, MJD and others to net the likes of Carson, Portis, Crumpler (I drafted Vernon Davis as my only TE), Turner, and some draft picks.

While I'd probably have been better off this season had I taken guys like Parker, KJ, or Westbrook in rounds 2 and 3, I think overall the strategy worked as I'm very well set up for the future. I also didn't go into the draft with this strategy in mind, but I couldn't pass up Fitz in the second, then I couldn't pass up Boldin in the third, then I couldn't pass up Roy in the fourth.

My starting lineup next season will likely be:

Carson (Leinart), Ronnie, Portis, Benson (Jamal, Turner, Morency), Fitz, Quan, Jennings (Henry, Marshall), Crumpler, Graham.

ETA: I've also been very unlucky, having given up an average of 10 points more per week than the next closest team. I've faced the high score numerous times and put up the second or third highest score.
