In the car as we speak,'i have never been to chi or wrigley. Any tips or recommendations.

Plan on staying downtown and taking public transport to wrigleyville. Saturday day game and a Sunday nighter. Will def do one game in the stadim proper but then I'm debating rooftop or bleachers. Bleachers is my lean, any reason to go roof over them?

Any must do things around the park? I know the Billy goat and that's about it.

Thanks look forward to your thoughts!

Billy Goat's nowhere near Wrigley. Take the redline to the Addison / Wrigley stop and just find a bar and go in. Cubby Bear, Murphy's Bleachers, Slugger's, Goose Island. They're all basically the same.

Bleachers- as mentioned there is much to do. Just watch yourself with the big crowds. If you can- check out Southport which is west of the park. Lincoln Square as well- some nice places to eat in that area and you can jump on the L and be there quickly.

Just to add...Southport is 3 blocks directly west on Addison. Great for mid to high range wife shopping, a number of bar/grills, great desserts and food at Southport Grocery/Cafe, Anthony's Italian Ice, and Julius Meinl, Candyality for the sweet tooth and the brown line is 2 blocks south of Addison on Southport.Lincoln Square is farther away and would require taking the brown line to Western it has a nice collection of walking stores, restaurants similar to Southport centered on Lincoln Ave. If this sounds good to you, you would either get back on the Red and transfer at Belmont to the brown line Kimbal train. Of you could walk Southport, take that in, and take the Brown line from there to Western.

Not a Chicagoan. Thought the bleachers were actually worth it. Sat kind of up on the lower level onthe first base side for one game....in the bleachers for another. Was kind of annoyed at the first base side tickets as everyone kept coming up and down the walkway to go to their seats. Ushers didn't stop them from doing so during play...so there was constantly someone blocking the view. Bleachers didn't have that problem.Bars around the stadium are good enough.

Also- a block party on the west side of Wrigley is going. Probably more of an "official" block party as Clarke St. is essentially a giant block party...

What a gem of a park. I really enjoyed Fenway and this place craps all over it. Baseball nirvana
I've been to half of the parks baseball has to offer and even I can admit that Wrigleyville on the day of a weekend game is something special. There really isn't anything like it. Add to the fact that the Yankees were in town, and the place was just electric.I was there yesterday on a rooftop. Such a surreal experience being able to watch a ballgame from that vantage point. Where else in the world do you have an opportunity do to something like that for a professional sporting event? It's something that just can't be duplicated.
