I wanted to know if anyone had an oppinion on this. I looked over the teams in our league, and I don't think that I see a definite favorite so far. There wil be alot of competitive teams,a nd alot can change between now and the season, but looks pretty good up and down the board.

For the most part, I agree. My contention from the beginning is that we are drafting "blind" in this format and it all comes down to the luck of the draw with bye weeks. The best team could be elimnated in week three if they have both QB's on a bye, as well as other key players on their team. As it stands, the most critical part of this league will be determined when the schedules are announced.

I was hoping to take him as insurance for Willis in a later round, but his WSL average dictates that I take him now or risk losing him.

Not true. With 16 teams there will always be several crippled ducks around. Draft good talent and you can survive a week w/o a QB on one with both QBs on a bye. There are several strategies how to mazimize points.

I think the offense will improve, and allow for less pressure on the Defense allowing them to play better.

Is the NFL staying with 6 teams on a bye at one time format like last year? It is possible a squad in WSL could have its first six picks (and then some) off on a bye. If that team wins that week, its pure luck. Its also bad luck if they have that many off at one time, too.

Assuming that you use sound drafting principals, you have a 6/32 chance of losing a player or 18.75% chance.Losing your top 2 players - 6/32 * 5/31 = 3.02% chanceLosing your top 3 players - 6/32 * 5/31 * 4/30 = 0.40% chanceLosing your top 4 players - 6/32 * 5/31 * 4/30 * 3/29 = 0.04% chanceLosing your top 5 players = 0.003% chanceLosing your top 6 players = 0.0001% chance or roughly 1 in a million.I won't calculate the "and then some".If you lose your top player on a 6 team bye week, the odds of losing one of your of your other top 6 are about 50.6%.

Bass, can you look at the teams that were eliminated last year during bye weeks and count how many "starters" they had off? I'd expect the eliminated teams had at least two of its top seven picks off half the time or more.

Lost a bunch of junk and Bush, still posted good RB scores. No TE hurt, but they were both injured any way.

 
HK...Byes are a factor and injuries probably a bigger one. That said, in the examples above, soliding drafting principles could have advanced most of the teams. Early drafts are not the time to take a large number or risks. I would want really only one unknown at each position with depth to cover. Having enough support at the junk positions is very important as far a making up lost bye week points. Yes there is some luck involved, but it's not significantly more then any other time of the year if you mitigate risk. I touched on some ways to mitigate risk and there are several others techniques that I won't mention as you guys are still drafting.

 
16.04 Indianapolis Colts DST

Colts seem to dare teams to pass against them as if their game plan is to get teams to get in a passing shootout with them so they can bet on Peyton vs. any other QB. Their return game seemed consistantly good in the playoffs.

The Saints DST is a powerfull offense similar to the Colts letting the defense pin its ears back for pass rush when they get ahead. Getting the ball to Reggie in the open field should get some ST TDs too.
