WW TE longshot - Saints Billy Miller week 15? (1 Viewer)

From CBS:

Saints TE Eric Johnson (groin) is out for Week 15 vs. Arizona. He was unable to practice all week. Johnson, who will miss his first game Sunday, has no more than two catches in any of his last four games and has been held without a touchdown in that span as well. He will be replaced in the starting lineup by Billy Miller.

(Updated 12/14/2007).

Without turning this into a WDIS or WDIp/u flamefest, I was 'shopping' the WW for a TE option this week, and B. Miller jumped out. Aside from EJ being out (this week at least), there's a few things that are looking interesting.

1. N.O. MUST win, and they're @ home.

2. vs. a AZ secondary that gave up 4 passing TDs last week to SEA

3. Average rushing game w/ Bush out - offering more passing targets

4. Brees is looking good again, and NO is moving the ball effectively through the air

5. Colston, Patten, Henderson, Moore will get the majority of the DBs attention (= LBs in coverage)

6. Both teams (NO & AZ) are on the NFC playoff bubble, so this game should be competetive till the end

I'm thinking this looks like the WW TE 'perfect storm' - and Miller should be available in most (if not every) league.

Realistically, I'm guessing/talking about maybe 5-6 catches for 60-80 and .5 TD

Anyone agree, have comments, or think I'm a just another :blackdot: owner looking for points vs. Brady this week?

For those of us not owning Gates, KWII, Gonzo, Cooley, etc. what are you doing? If you have other WW TE ideas, feel free to add them here.

Great post and cetainly a risky play. For anyone with a starter in a bad spot (me, for instance) Shockey in the horrible weather after two bad outings in a row I don't know that this isn't a better start.

Thanks - and for the reply. Pushing 60 views and only one taker. I guess the majority of playoff owners are sitting on Gates, Witten, and other "top" TEs.Also adding this game should be a shootout, in a warm comfy dome vs. the messy tracks in the midwest / NE.I put my $ where my thoughts were, and picked Miller up. Still need the stones to pull the trigger, but I'm definitely leaning that way right now.Anyone else have WW TE ideas?

I have the other Miller, Heath who has done nothing of late, and natually I regret not picking up Schleffler off the WW this week. :banned:

That said. this one is just too risky for me. Guess right now I fall into the dance with who brung ya category.

I have Shockey (hurt, snow?, and not scoring much lately) and am thinking of picking up B Miller or some other TE from waivers to play this week.

This topic got me thinking and I'm leaning very seriously to Desmond Clark in the dome against MN instead of Shockey.

Anyone have any idea if Orton likes to throw to the TE's????

I've done some research, as I have Mercedes Lewis @ Pittsburg. When Orton played 2 years ago the situation was very different than today, Chicago had a great Defense and a very good running game so they relied on Orton to basically not lose the game. He passed very little and his numbers were quite mediocre, Clark only had one decent game and that wasn't much. Things are different now, I imagine they will have to throw more but that is no assurance of performance.

In my search, I had also identified Billy Miller as a possibility, watched him play in high school where he was an excellent WR, but that was then, he was tall, lean and fast, I watched him play recently and couldn't believe it was the same guy, he's fat, pudgy and slow...but he can catch the ball and his game situation is far more favorable.

I am still mulling it over, for me it's either Lewis or Miller, I won't risk a Chicago TE as I allready am taking a chance with Berrian.

Good luck!
