Wyatt's idea- Hass to Titans (1 Viewer)

Carson Palmer is making a stink in Cincinnati. Clearly, he wants out. And I have no doubt the Titans would love to get him. The big problem: Bengals owner Mike Brown probably isn’t going to trade the veteran quarterback.

Those who know Brown say he’s stubborn, and won’t cave no matter what Palmer says. If that’s the case then Palmer would have to retire, and the Titans wouldn’t be able to make a play on the guy they should want most.

Right now, the Titans are waiting, just like everyone else. A new Collective Bargaining Agreement would change everything. But for now the Titans are exploring their options in the draft and waiting to see what options they might have in free agency or via trade.

I suspect their wish list starts with Palmer, and includes Kyle Orton. Kevin Kolb has to be on there as well, but his asking price will probably be too high. If other teams get in the mix for Orton, the Titans could lose out in bidding war.

In the end the options might not be as many as they seem right now. And it could have them looking at Kerry Collins … or out West to Seattle.

I have no doubt Matt Hasselbeck is one name on the Titans’ radar. The long-time Seahawks quarterback, scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent, has ties to a Titans front office that includes GM Mike Reinfeldt, VP of Player Personnel Ruston Webster and Director of Pro Scouting Lake Dawson.

If Hasselbeck doesn’t return to the Seahawks, I expect the Titans to be in play. And in the end, he’s probably more gettable than Palmer.

Palmer or Hass...this Titans fan has no clue why we'd want either. Both appear close to done, the team isn't set up especially well to win now. There are cheaper, easier to get rid of options that could be a placeholder for a young signal-caller (Bulger, Volek).

I'm a big Kyle Orton fan, so trading a pick for him wouldn't hurt my feelings.

Not interested in Kolb at his price.

My personal peference would be sign Volek (I have it in my head is an UFA) and draft someone like Andy Dalton in the 2nd round and let him sit a year.

Spend the 1st rounder adding an impact DE (Bowers? Smith?) or WR (Jones?)...really hoping they don't take Newton or Gabbert.

Wouldn't hate seeing them trade back either.

vandyt,

Hass hold the fort for a year for some rook to develop.(I still think Kerry is fine in that role, assuming they can get him)

I disagree with most here and think Palmer is better off outside cincy.

I don't see Hass as a huge upgrade from Collins. I guess if they were just a slightly better QB away from competing he'd be worth it, but he isn't going to bring in a championship or make the team better long term.

I'm all for the Titans getting Orton. I might accept McNabb.

I tend to agree with all of this, any chance Mallett makes it to the Titans in the 2nd round?

FWIW I like the idea of Derrick Morgan and a third for Kolb. I don't recall where I saw it.

It is about a first and a third for Kolb so it's closer to paying the Eagles price and Washburn knows the player a little bit. I have a hard time believing Andy Reid turns down a first round DE the way he runs his D.

Titans barely had Morgan on their team in 2010 so it doesn't seem like as big of a loss.

This is totally throwing stuff against a wall to see what sticks

I agree and Kerry's timing with WRs has to be worth something here where he might be as good as Hass in this context.

If they're convinced that Kolb is a franchise QB able to help them get to the next level, I'm okay with dealing Morgan and a 3rd. I'm just not sold on Kolb.Main problem I have with this idea is that while the Titans have a top 10 pass rush right now, both of their top ends are over 30 and I'm not sure Ball can put it together again after a career year. Ford's okay but the only end I have faith in being above average next year is Babin.

Plus, for those who consider their opponents, the Titans are in a division with Peyton Manning and Schaub. They need to pressure Manning if they want to win and knocking Schaub on his ### is the best way to beat Houston.

All that said, I'm not completely sold on Morgan either.

Why would the Eagles want Morgan? They drafted two DEs in the first three rounds last year. I say that the first rounder and a future third would be the best deal if Kolb is to be dealt.

I am still hopeful that VY is brought back into the fold. He is the best QB on the market and any change is going to set them back. Fisher is gone. If Munchak knows what he is doing he won't kill the horse because the wagon broke. With VY in tow they don't need to waste a year with old guys and can draft for need and get a possible QBotF later in the draft. If VY fails you can cut him next year. Even if VY gets cut, they have a winner old guy in Collins. I'd take Collins over Hass or Palmer anyday.

CJ is going to leave if they don't get their heads out their ###.

Kerry Collins is an old ineffective qb, not a winner old guy.

The future qb for the Titans is not on their roster right now - they will address it in the draft and in free agency, once that is opened.

Hass might be a possibility, but he is a little too august for me - he's had his share of injuries in the past three years or so.

Who else is on the market? Hasselbeck is old and overrated. Carson Palmer is not on the market. Kevin Kolb is entirely unproven. Who else is really out there? A Veteran QB in his prime who is a proven winner (the stat I care about is W/L) is not on the market. The problem with the Titans last year was not VY. It was the horrible defense. His psychological problems will be much simplified with Fisher gone and no history.

I wonder why they haven't released him yet.
