Yahoo ff (1 Viewer)

Norris, I am thinking about doing a Yahoo league or 2, but here is the single biggest problem with Yahoo in my mind. Unless this season is different, the WW feature on Yahoo allows has no restrictions at all on free agency pickups (as distinguished from WW pickups). You can even make free agency pickups during a game. This creates a situation where the person who is always at the computer can have a distinct advantage over his leaguemates who do not have as much computer access.

there's an option that closes it until tuesday and you have to put your requests in before then.

Can't wait until Robert Meachem is a TE....
Can't really complain for the price they charge... (don't ever pay for the 'plus' leagues - just go to MFL then)...Imagine if everything free in life was that good... like, a FF forum site... :lmao:
In my experience, a number of people always buy the live stats addon. Then you realize if you took all the people that bought the addon, you could have paid for MFL.

People also get used to the Yahoo site. When they want the upgrade features as there interest grows over a few years, they can't pull themselves to another site. Evil, no?

We still have 1 Yahoo league and it is a plus league more for nostalgia sake. We also have a few owners that have been there since the begining and do not adjust well when we dump new things on them such as a different site.

I'm having that exact problem right now. Our dynasty is entering it's 6 or 7th year (all with Yahoo, we've been using 'Plus' for about the past 3) and I am having heaps of trouble convincing them to move over to MFL. A year or so ago one of the other managers decided to create a trial league with Fox, it was extremely terrible so the whole league, including those who have been playing for 15 years before the internet was invented are of the opinion that anything other than Yahoo is inferior. Yep, even though MFL is half the price (amongst other great features) and we wouldn't have to move over to a yahoo groups page every offseason. What gets me really worried is that players such as Chris Taylor were never even on Yahoo's player database last season, causing much controversy amongst managers wanting to pick him up. UDFA's such as Darius Walker will be the same this year - whether they make it or not, they should be in the database. Same for Ricky Williams. And while our league doesn't force teams to play a TE, that Colston TE listing last year was the laughing stock of fantasy football fans everywhere.

Anyone have any ideas of how to help convince these guys to move to MFL?

Your answer is in your question. MFL allows you to add a player like Chris Taylor during the off-season. For example -- your draft. MFL also uploads players faster than you'll see on Yahoo. Also with MFL there is no down time. You get year long access to the site and best of all (for the Commish) it's an automatic upload from year to year. This also allows you to use any of the past years websites as an archive. Always a fun feature when you're looking to see who drafted who where and who traded who to who. The bottom line is Chook you need to just take control and implore your other owners to use MFL. If you ask them to trust you they will be very happy. Good luck!

Wow, that's a wee bit early for them, isn't it? Usually it isn't available until mid-late July!

Anywho... I've done a bunch of Yahoo leagues in the past, and will continue to. It's free. It's simple. I love doing drafts. It definitely has its drawbacks (a lot of morons play and occasionally ruin a league). But my biggest complaint with them has always been the lack of being able to draw up divisions, and also the tiebreaker...

Someone post the link to MFL, I'd like to check it out and you may have just sold me. Not sure if I ever heard of it before, but my keeper leagues been running for 6 years and Yahoo blows.

Why don't you make a trial league at MFL and have them try it out?

Norris, are you sure that you are speaking about FA pickups? People have said this in the past, but it has only in fact applied to WW pickups. If you are right, then I have less reservations about Yahoo becuase I like most of its features.

I already did that - spent a bit of time on the layout, entering all of the rosters, settings, logos & graphics etc, which annoys me even more since a couple of owners aren't willing to mirror the league on MFL. When will they see the light?!

Until last year, they didn't start up until July. Last year they moved it forward to sometime in the second half of June. Now it starts on the 5th.

The one and only thing I like about Yahoo over MFL is the stat tracker feature. If MFL could get gameday to the level, there would be no contest.

Yahoo also has better draft features, MFL doesnt show you best available players
If you're going to go by Yahoo's list, you're in trouble......Draft Dominator will work fine.Even the "shark" section of who's avaiable in the MFL draft (yes, it is there, I check it just to chuckle during Dynasty drafts - Tiki and Bledsoe were often suggested) is better than Yahoo's suggestions on most occasions.Yahoo doesn't "project" much / very well. They'll miss many players that we highlight in the Draft Dominator (and even FBG misses a few late LATE picks unless you update the DD).

MFL has live scoring. Not as pretty, but also doesn't crash nearly as much.Yes I had both last year (I like to be in several leagues and in several sites just to keep up with what's what).

I love MFL's live scoring and never had any issues with it like I did with CBS. I also love the audio live scoring that you can down load on any pc.

If it is really an issue, your commish could lock the teams and unlock them on days your league wants. I have not used the till tuesday feature, but I remember it as an option in the pay league.

Also you can set a league up now, let people play with it and check it out, then pay for it at the end of the summer.Like the trial league set up at Fox but this one will be good.

Anyone ever tried AOL? I haven't, but from what I've heard, it is also free, has live scoring and you can turn off free agent pickups on Sundays. Even has blind-bidding too!!

I played a league there a couple of years ago. The word LAGGGGGGGGG describes it pretty well.

MFL is so inexpensive and is so customizable, I don't see why more don't use it.

To me, $5 or so per year is the same as free.
