Yahoo!'s first "Big Board" for 2007 fantasy drafts (1 Viewer)

As discussed in other threads, you and I pretty much agree on this one, but I will say that the loss of Barber will likely have a negative impact on the Giants offense overall. So I suspect the Giants rushing attempts, yardage, and TDs will drop. That could (should?) mean that Jacobs will not see as many goal line carries should there be fewer goal line carries to participate in. Their rushing TD totals have dipped the passed few years and one year they only had a modest 6 rushing TD.
Extremely valid point. Drives where Barber helped take them down the field and Jacobs punched it in will no longer exist. Also, Barber's role won't be "plug and play" with a smaller/faster RB simply being added to the mix. He's just too good to be replaced. However, the value to Jacobs will hopefully be an altered offense to utilize his talents, similar to what they did with Tiki. The idea of Burress/Toomer/Moss & Shockey spreading the field and Jacobs wearing down the interior with 20 carries a game is a little different than how Tiki burned people with his skills, but it has the same potential.

I think Jacobs kind of had a slow finish to the season and it's almost a given they bring in another RB. He may still be top 5 but I'd think he's closer to a Turner or Norwood value than a guy I would take over a Portis or Steve Smith type. I would also slide up Caddy to around Chester Taylor territory as he's the unquestioned starter and the offense should improve. Addai to me is what he is ... in a good spot but not a great sustaining back. I'd take him in the late 2nd or 3rd round.

Jacobs hurt his ankle in week 14 or 15, so that may explain his lack of work toward the end of the season. If the Giants don't add any RB's, then Reese was the wrong guy because they are light on depth and experience there.

Too High

Shaun Alexander

Carson Palmer

Brandon Jacobs

Marvin Harrison

Terrell Owens

Too Low

Clinton Portis

Reggie Bush

Willis McGahee

Reggie Wayne

Would your opinion change anyif they traded for Turner? There have been minor rumblings to that effect.
Jacobs would be worth even less this season than in years past if that happened IMO.
There is a 0.0% chance of that happening. The Chargers will tender Turner at either the mid or highest level which means he will cost at minimum a first, but more likely first and third round picks. I can almost guarantee Jerry Reese's first move as Giants GM is NOT going to be to give MORE draft picks to A.J. Smith and the San Diego Chargers.Only way the Giants consider a move like that is if they don't believe in any of the RBs on their roster and don't think they can get anyone satisfactory in the draft or FA. That simply is not the case. The situation is not that desperate. They love Jacobs and certainly don't view him as just a "straight ahead, between the tackles, short yardage" guy. And they also still like Derrick Ward so may only be looking to add one more RB.

Addai to me is what he is ... in a good spot but not a great sustaining back. I'd take him in the late 2nd or 3rd round.
I've been saying a lot this off season that people are sleeping on Addai and should wake up. SPLITTING TIME and AS A ROOKIE he ranked 11th. Are people suggesting that he will get worse next year when he should grab a bigger share of the workload? No way Addai lasts to the end of the second round in a 12-team draft. By the time the season rolls around, in a lot of leagues, he may not make it out of the first.

I see Caddy and McGahee listed many times as "Too Low". As an owner of both in a keeper league, explain to me why? These guys are on bad offensive teams, with bad OLs, and bad QBs. They also don't catch a lot of passes. As talented as the may be, they are very susceptible to lousy games (e.g., 13 for 26 yards) that can kill you during the season (I know first hand!). The offensive talent on each of their teams need to improve significantly in the offseason to give me any comfort.

I'd say they are about where they should be, maybe even too high.

Reggie Bush and MJD are the question marks for me. In PPR scoring, both of these guys are potential top 10 picks. But in traditional TD heavy scoring, I just don't know where to rank them yet. How many touches will they get? What will the impact of Deuce and Fred T be next season. Nobody knows for now.

I do like Brandon Jacobs as top 15 if he is the feature back. I think it's his job to lose now, so this is a solid ranking. The guy is a beast and should put up solid numbers unless NYG drafts a legit RB or signs a change of pace guy in Free Agency.

any list with Manning at #8 is bad. Vince young top 50? maybe he'll finish there, but he's not getting drafted there.I'd like to know what is up with Freddyt before grabbing MJD in round 1, but that might not matter.
 FBG's had Manning ranked 9th for VBD in leagues where QB's get 6 per TD and 1 pt every 20 yards (which BTW is the way it shoudl be).Has anyone taken the final year numbers and dropped them into the VBD model and looked at where guys SHOULD have been drafted?FBG's this is something you should do every year as I think it will add great insight.
you really going to take Manning in the first round?? GLgranted the scoring system you posted is heavy QB, still round 1 QB is never a good strategy IMO, unless you start 2.
The team that drafted Manning in the 1st in my league took home the championship. Using the scoring mentioned above, Manning is worth a middle first round pick. He's consistently good, healthy, and can have several big games that can carry a team to the playoffs. After LT2, LJ, (and maybe SJax), who else is money in the bank?

A few days ago I asked both Jeff and Bloom for advice on a dynasty trade involving me giving up Addai and getting back Norwood, Stallworth, and 1.12 and also a swap of me giving Housh (I also have CJ) and getting Javon Walker added later and both said I should jump on it. I'll be kicking myself if Addai reaches 1st round value however I just don't see him holding up to a full workload.

I think McGahee scares me and might even be too high let alone too low.

Overrated:

Larry Johnson--wont repeat 450+touches, would u really take him over steven jackson?

Rudi Johnson-Lackluster year yet again, oline troubles, perry might stay healthy for once?

Housh--No way im taking housh over wayne, williams, boldin, colston, should i go on?

Jacobs--Wont even be the featured back next year, am i missing something?

Underrated:

Deangelo---No more foster, easily top 20-30 overall next year.

Mb3--07=more touches=more yds and tds for barber

Wayne--#3 wr in ppr last year, 07=easily wr1 in indy

Roy--until late season, was number 1 overall wr
I've never heard of anyone calling LJ 'overrated' , so this is a first no doubt. a guy who finishes second only to LT2 in rush yards ( 1789), scores 19 tds, and catches 41 balls for 410 yards , is overrated?! wait, let's remember, he played behind a makeshift line that lost 3 linemen during the offseason, including a future HOF'er Willie Roaf to retirement, and a devastating injury to starting QB Trent Green...so with ALL these things considered, including using a never-has-been named Damon Huard at QB for much of the season, this was a banner year for LJ. heck, it would have been a banner year for ANYONE, under those circumstances..but to call him overrated , is comical.. I agree with with your assessment of Jacobs 100%, he will not be a starting rb here in NY.
