Yahoo! waiver options, HELP? (1 Viewer)

Slash N' Roses

Footballguy
Changing my league over to a Free Agents Acquisition Budget option on Yahoo. First part of my question is about the weekly waiver option. There are two options: Sunday - tuesday OR First game of the week - sunday. Really don't like the fact that because of one thursday night game all player transactions are froze until wednesday. We don't have large benches so its hard to tell guys to have a player X waiting on there bench. So the sunday - tuesday option is the one I'am leaning toward.

Second part of my question is Yahoo related. Will Yahoo let me change the weekly waiver option (sunday-tuesday or 1st game - tuesday) post draft? So if I go (1st game - tuesday) and the league doesn't like it can I change to (sunday - tuesday).

Thanks for the help.

Yes you can change between the two as you please post draft.

I would recommend sun-tues. There is only a Thurs game week 1 and then none until week 10. Locking the free agents on Thurs 3 days before the Sunday games means game time decision pick ups are non existent as well as key players who are announced as out thrus, fri, saturday or early sunday.

I wish they would put players on waivers once their game starts for the week until Tuesday. So players who play late on Sunday and Monday would still be able to be picked up after the morning games.

Dealing with a related issue tonight after the GB/NO game in a free league (please hold your anti-Yahoo sentiments). Our league originally ran with a "first come, first served" FA plan, with no player locks at all during the week. We've been adjusting our rules are a bit fairer for everyone, including losing the free-for-all FA rules.

We changed about 3 years ago to have players lock at the first game, then after a suggestion after that year, moved to the Sun-Tues option so that people could still pick up FA's between the first game of the week and Sunday...but the intent was that players from the early game would be locked/unavailable/put on waivers at the start of their game.

I can't remember it being an issue before tonight, but someone added a player from the GB game tonight. Did Yahoo change the settings on that particular waiver rule, or is it possible that no one in our league added a FA from a team playing a Thursday or Saturday game in the last two years?

Again, the intent is that players who played for a week are locked 5 minutes before THEIR game starts...but everyone else is an FA until normal Sunday games start. Is there no way to set it that way, other than personal restraint and commissioner reversal?

I have had a beef with the way Yahoo does waivers for years. It's one reason I'd never host a serious league on Yahoo.

Top the best of my knowledge, Yahoo doesn't allow an owner to put in more than one waiver claim for a given player.

That is, I might want to pick up a single player, with an ascending order of drops.

This is a sample of what I mean:

ADD Torrey Smith DROP Jeff King

ADD James Casey DROP Jeff King

ADD James Casey DROP LeRon McClain

ADD Nick Novack DROP Jeff King

ADD Nick Novack DROP LeRon McClain

ADD Nick Novack DROP Kerry Collins

That is a perfectly normal and logical progression of adds/drops on any platform I've used except for Yahoo.

I can enter those waiver requests on CBS.

I can enter those waiver requests on MFL.

I cannot enter those waiver requests on Yahoo.

On Yahoo, each ADD may be listed only once. Thus, if one wants to assure they're in the running for each possible pickup, they need to list a unique drop for each pickup.

ADD Torrey Smith DROP Jeff King

ADD James Casey DROP Jeff King

ADD Nick Novack DROP Jeff King

The above is one way to enter waivers on Yahoo. However, if I get Torry Smith in the first run of waivers AND James Casey or Nick Novack is available to me on any subsequent run through the waivers, I would not get the player because the specified DROP was not possible, as that player was no longer on my team.

So, the Yahoo workaround becomes:

ADD Torrey Smith DROP Jeff King

ADD James Casey DROP LeRon McClain

ADD Nick Novack DROP Kerry Collins

This is really the best way to handle it on Yahoo. BUT it has the huge drawback that an owner who is granted only his fourth waiver request must part with his fourth-worst player, rather than the guy he wanted to drop the most.

That is all. Just find this vexatious.
