i can't remember the post or what it was about, but i recall reading something last week in the shark pool about there being a glitch or a sneaky play within yahoo waivers... anyone have any insight?
This is only true if your commissioner has it set to first come first serve..It can be set to that or to the normal waiver process where players lock when the first game kicks off..I'm not familiar with that post. However, my recollection from playing Yahoo leagues years ago is that Yahoo allows waivers during the games themselves. The acquired player can be used on your roster the following week. This feature has a huge impact because it rewards those who are aware of developments in real time who can make the waiver move immediately, whereas people who cannot do the above are disadvantaged.
That still occurs. I set my alarm to 3:00 am usually and get the players once they are cleared. It's interesting because you can see exactly who got waivered ... nothing you can do about it, just interesting.I seem to remember someone posting something last year about being able to go in before waivers are posted and claiming free agents. If I remember correctly you can't claim a player that was picked up as part of the waiver process but you could still claim a player that cleared waivers even though the waiver claim results were not posted yet. It was something like that.
fwiw nfl.com is around 4 am estI work till 4am sometimes the waivers go throught at 3am but the last 3 weeks its been closer too 5 when they go through. Espn is usually around 3:30am
If you picked up Chad Ochocinco you could download his iPhone app for free. But that might have just been a one-week thing.i can't remember the post or what it was about, but i recall reading something last week in the shark pool about there being a glitch or a sneaky play within yahoo waivers... anyone have any insight?
i noticed this last night when i was trying to add some players to my, waivers. some guys still had the green cross, others had an empty cross. i wanted to put a bid on a guy, but could only pick him up. i didn't. but this morning, he was one of the guys not bid upon in the blind bidding... so i think after midnight, or whenever the bids are processed, an owner can scroll through the free agents and pick up players not receiving any bids.I seem to remember someone posting something last year about being able to go in before waivers are posted and claiming free agents. Yes, that was the "glitch".It was useful because you'd know which guys you needed to spend a waiver to get, and which ones you didn't. You'd look at the player listing after midnight PST (assuming the league was set up so waivers cleared first thing Wed). The only names still on waivers were the ones someone else put a claim in for. And ... and here's the thing ... you could still put in a claim after Wed midnight for those names still on waivers. However, as mentioned above, Yahoo has closed this glitch. You can still see certain players still on waivers after midnight. But the green icon to add them is greyed out. I'll admit ... I exploited the glitch when it was there. But I'm glad Yahoo fixed it.i've searched for the post and can't find it...i thought it was something along the lines of owners setting their alarms for 2 am, watching the players list and somehow being able to see who had a waiver claim on them, allowing them to then decide if they wanted to use their priority on that particular player...i woke up in the middle of the night last night and was looking for "something"..... but half asleep couldn't figure out what it was exactly i was looking for.
Technically, all you can see is the separation of who was not involved in any kind of waiver claim vs. those who are involved, in any way, in a waiver claim.I make the distinction vs. the bolded part above because someone may not be listed as a FA at 12:01 (Pacific), but they may be a FA 2 hours later when final waivers process. It's not a glitch.
Read the rules and you'd know that everyone comes off waivers at 2:00 am central time I think.
Those who were claimed can take several hours to post, however. You can see who wasn't claimed by scrolling through the list.
And you can still see this or its been fixed like someone said said earlier?Technically, all you can see is the separation of who was not involved in any kind of waiver claim vs. those who are involved, in any way, in a waiver claim.I make the distinction vs. the bolded part above because someone may not be listed as a FA at 12:01 (Pacific), but they may be a FA 2 hours later when final waivers process. It's not a glitch.

Basically, anyone included as a potential waiver pickup will still be locked at midnight until the hour/2 hours pass and waivers are processed. For example, someone may have 4 claims in for 4 different players, but each claim includes the same dropped player...basically a prioritized list, hedging their bets against someone else outbidding/being higher priority for their top choices. All 4 of those potential adds will still be in Waiver status during processing, but once the calculations are done, the guys that weren't actually picked up, if any, would become FA's later than everyone else. That's assuming no one else had those other guys in a waiver claim anywhere.
That may not give you much of an edge, but it helps to know that not everyone who has a Waiver status next to their name at midnight will be claimed. You may find them a couple hours later available as a FA.
Analyzing who is/isn't a FA at midnight and who ends up ACTUALLY being claimed can give you some insight into your leaguemates' priorities and 2nd/3rd sleeper thoughts.
During that processing time, if you're seeing Mark Clayton with a Waiver claim on him for 2 weeks in a row, only to fall through to Free Agency after claims process, you know someone out there in your league is at least thinking about him and putting at least a backup bid on him in case their top bids/picks don't go through.
Sometimes, it just takes that little bit of knowledge to jump ahead of your competition.
