We usually draft on a Friday night; however, this year due to vacations and others commitments, it looks like we'll have to settle for Tuesday, September 4th

We actually kick ours off on Saturday at 10am...first 5 rounds, then grill up some lunch, then 10 more rounds, then break, then 10 more rounds...usually break up around dinner time...

I commend you for identifying a good market. We have a 'Booze, Blues & BBQ' joint in our area that caters to our needs for drafting as well as year end banquets. For my main league, we draft on Sunday afternoons - we prefer a quite area or dedicated room with wait staff. My work league drafts mid-week in our company conference room - although I'd love to get to a local pub. My oldest league drafts on Saturdays - usually at a pub or restaurant - this year it'll be at the Commish' house.

Marketing this would be a great idea!

I run a sports bar and am looking for the best times to promote for people to come have their drafts.
If you host it and promote it, they will come.I dont think it matters what fay you choose. It gives guys the chance to go out and draft and whats better then that.We have our draft the last Sunday in August so there is usually only 1 pre season game left

Whenever your slow times happen to be.
I agree with this as it should maximize your profits. I believe most leagues that would start coming to your place would adapt to get in when they can if it fits their schedule. It may be best to have them sign up for times and you can adjust your facilities, staff, etc. to meat the needs of scheduled drafts. For the record I voted for Saturday (usually 10 AM to noon start). We sometimes do Sunday depending on owner schedules. Some owners are an hour or two drive away, so we keep it on the weekend. My league at work usually does a Wed or Thursday evening in late August!

Very true! Or at least offer some pricing incentives at slower times to balance traffic.

I'm surprised by all the weekends. Ours is usually a weekday evening just because a bunch of people in our league go away on the weekends.

We draft the Tuesday or Wednesday before the season starts. We do this because:

1) No one wants to draft before the preseason games are over.

2) Many league owners go away for Labor Day weekend.

3) The first game of the season is the Thursday night game.

That basically leaves Tues or Wednesday between Labor Day and the Thursday game.

Usually we try for the Sunday night before the first week of the season. This year, the best time we could work out is Sunday, Aug 12.

Any chance your place is in Harrisburg, PA? We are dying for a place that promotes this type of thing and makes it sound good to draft at an establishment?

Our AUCTION has always taken place on the Saturday of the Labor Day Weekend..

We have owners fly into NM from Phoenix, AZ....Ogden, UT.....and Arlington Texas.

A 3-day weekend makes the trip worth while...

We start around 1-2pm on a Saturday, draft takes a while, then we eat, we get some good BBQ, and then strippers come over and put on a nice show. We also rent out a huge house near a resort, end up partying all weekend. We kind of make it a big deal on Labor Day weekend. I live on East Coast, and a few owners fly in from West Coast.

:goodposting: Now THIS is what I call a FF draft!!!!!!!!!!!!

we draft the Friday before Labor Day due to the Following weeks Thursday night game NFL season kick off. We usually start on Thursday at the Jersey shore with a trip to AC and all night poker. Beach Friday with some bevergaes and Boce' and shower and eat before starting the draft about 6-7 PM Friday night, followed by harrassment and poker.

Can't ####### wait :homer:

We'd like to draft on a weekend, but with Labor Day it's pretty inevitable that it ends up being a weekday evening.

As we get older and have jobs, families and other responsibilities it really just comes down to finding a day works for everyone.

So really, on your end, I would think you'd just want to promote it during the key drafting weeks whenever you think you'd want the extra business.

I think one of the primary reasons fantasy football and NFL in general has become so popular is that the majority of the action happens on the weekend, which is the only time many of us working stiffs can devote time to it. So, the early results of this poll don't surprise me and if I were running a promotion, it would be on Saturday and Sunday for sure.
