Your perfect auction draft (1 Viewer)

From the mag:

The goal is to target all of the players highlighted in gray in the table to build your team around. Since most of these players will be had at a reduced price, this should free up money to get two of the elite backs. The two backs I would target from the elite list are Laurence Maroney and Joseph Addai. Both are in outstanding situations (with minimal talent on the depth charts to threaten their workload).I would also forego the top six wide receivers in an auction league and concentrate on locking up many WRs in the 7-20 range when the prices are reasonable. If I was able to conserve dollars effectively and early in the auction I would be inclined to try and get a top 4 kicker and a top 5 defense.
What do you think of this? What are your thoughts on passing on the very elite WRs, using extra dollars to go for a top K or DEF, etc.? I'd love to hear ideas for your perfect draft compared to FBG's thoughts from the magazine's Perfect Draft column.

No idea what "the gray in the table" is, but I do try to lock up 2 upper tier RBs and generally spend low on WRs.

It is IMO ridiculous to spend more than 1% on a PK, but if you play it right you can get a top 5 guy for that (eg nominate one early - often nobody wants to spend the extra buck to get him at that point). I might spend 2-3% tops on a D and generally end up with a good (not great) one. But no way do I "conserve" to that end.

I don't put out my strategies until after my cash leagues, but I agree on not dishing out top dollar this year for the "top WRs."

I spend nothing on K's, but I do like to land one of the top Ds.

My bad - 'the gray in the table' refers to undervalued players with large discrepancies between ADP and projected performance.
