YouTube and Ads. (1 Viewer)

I know I am preaching to the choir here, but needed to vent about an ad today I saw on YouTube. Now, I have been watching more than normal on YouTube this week because I'm involved in a music draft here, but this was ridiculous.

I clicked on a link on Facebook for a 4:45 minute song. (It was The Trees by Rush.) Before the song, I was presented with a 4:57 commercial for a duct tape alternative (not going to give brand name because I hate them so.) with no option for skipping.

I don't mind commercials on YouTube, just make them 10-15 secs or if they are longer, make me watch for about that and then give me the option to skip them. If it something I'm not interested in, why should I need to watch the commercial?

Annoying.

I have ad block. This is an ad before a YouTube video; most of the time they go a couple seconds and then give you an easily identifiable click for bypassing the ad. This had none, or was hard to find.

we must have different versions of adblock cuz I watch youtube multiple times a day and I don't even see the 5 second skip ads. The latest ABP Chrome extension blocks everything.

I'll have to look. Mine is on Firefox on Mac.

There is a child version of the YouTube app (YT Kids) that has better limits on what they can see, and have abilities for no ads too.

What about how they're putting ads in the middle of videos now? You're watching something,  then it pauses and an ad starts.  F that!

I've yet to find a video I want to watch enough that I'd sit through a commercial. I automatically close the window when an advertisement starts. Same thing with these websites that have delayed boxes that take up the whole screen.

My 3-year-old nephews are ####### obsessed with YouTube. They don't want actual toys. They just want to sit on the iPad and watch other kids play with toys.

I watched them viewing once. They're trained like monkeys. Staring blankly at the screen, but as soon as an advertisement starts, they'll take their tiny index finger and start hammering the lower-right corner. Like a hamster trying to get a food pellet. Tap tap tap tap tap tap tap. Not even waiting for the 'Skip Ad' button to appear, they just start banging away at the corner with no mercy. It's amazing.

I don't get it, but then again I'm not a 3 year old kid reared during the Cyber Age.

The amount of commercials on YouTube is getting unreasonable.  And they don't mix them up very well.  It's the same commercial over and over again.

are you watching on PC or mobile? I have no answer for ads on for the mobile app, but adblocker shuts down everything on the site for PC.
