Zealots RFA/UFAs (1 Viewer)

I know this could go in the ACF, but just about everyone in the IDP forum has a Zealots team, so I thought I'd stick it here...

I'll give my thoughts on UFA/RFA assignments in Zealots if you want another opinion. Others are more than welcome to chip in with answers as well.

As a review of the rules, you can keep 40 players, designate up to 6 as RFAs, and the rest on your roster are UFAs. With a RFA, when an auction on the player ends, you have the option to accept the winning bid amount for the player or pay the winning bid amount to keep the player.

In general, I don't get too cute with FA designations... my general ideas:

1. Designate your worst players as UFAs, your next six worst players as RFAs.

2. Designate your kickers.

3. As a tiebreaker, keep the RB.

Thomas Davis and Verron Haynes are the only two I'd give a second thought to... if there's someone in your league who might bite on Davis's big name, I'd see what you might be able to get in a trade.Again, it's hard to say if these are the best choices without seeing the guys you're keeping.

League 1

Tick, I hate to post my entire roster but I am really split about who to put up for UFA and RFA:

Edit: OK, I trimmed out the guys I have to keep. Below are the rest. The reason I have so many QBs is that I have trouble at the position. I have big ben and then no one. So I have alot of prospects that might get time. I also have a whole slew of LBs that are good or have good potential. Maybe I need to trade some of my LB depth. I dunno. I have really good IDPs in this league. Where I need help is QB and RB and WR just because I don't have 3 starting RBs. Its hard to find a 4th starting WR.

Edit: BTW, I have 52 players on my roster so I think I need to get my R/UFA to 7/5.

I would mix this up a little:UFA:Blaylock - after the first couple games, this guy got no chances at RB for the RB-starved JETS. Webster - they already drafted his replacement.Ferguson - has never put up consistent numbers to warrant a roster spot for me. Dever scorers seem to record low tackle numbers for all IDPs.Wilson - Someone has to replace Harrison, but I don't think its Wilson. If it is, you should be able to reacquire him.Ellis - the switch to a 3-4 has eliminated his rosterability. Kuhn - you must know something I don't about this guy. RFA:Courtney Anderson - he was losing touches to Randall later in the year.Wilson - keep your options open with this guy in case the Gonzalez contract falls apart.Boley - I would keep him at RFA until we see what happens in ATL. Something tells me Hartwell will be gone. LaBoy - this guy won the starting position over Odom before getting injured. I think he has a lot more upside than Kelsay, who I would look to replace here or trade. Kelsay will be platooning even more so next year with Hargrove on board. Ike Taylor - he lost his starting job late in the yearKiel - also lost his starting job due to off-field problems.Sammie Parker has no business hitting the FA market. He's the 2nd WR on a team that has Kennison as #1. Thomas Davis still has a lot of fans - try to trade him.Verron Haynes should also be traded. I just could not believe PIT went with Parker almost exclusively this year. Haynes barely sniffed the field. He's your last RFA if you cannot get the Parker owner or Davenport owner to give something up for him.

I still think I'd hold on to Brooks. Offer him around for trades if nothing else - I've been surprised at what a starting QB can bring in trades in Zealots. I have a roster where I'd give up a 4th for him.

Maybe you can target that position in the rookie draft. I also think that you have good depth and youth at QB so maybe you can move Andrew Walters for upgrade at LB. I almost substituted Mike Williams for one of those LBs.

Bryan Thomas was the #10 DE in Zealots this year. I only know this because I picked him up for a song last year when he was moved to LB, hoping his position wouldn't change. It hasn't, and the Jets screwy roster designations has been a nice loophole for Thomas owners.I think I'd put Priest on there as an RFA, and bump one of the RFA's to UFA.

Agree with you on Priest - I did not even see him on the roster. I did not know about Bryan Thomas loophole and just found out that he was signed to contract extension last month. You better hope the Jets don't fix their designations.

Just one man opinion so take it for what it is worth. I am thinking that listing Trotter and Brooks is risky since you do not have much depth there. Maybe you can target that position in the rookie draft. I also think that you have good depth and youth at QB so maybe you can move Andrew Walters for upgrade at LB. I almost substituted Mike Williams for one of those LBs.

Thanks guys for helping me out. I was thinking about the same on most of the players. But do you really think I should put Jerome Harrison out there? His value was pretty high at certain points of the season.

In my limited knowledge (my 1st year going thru a RFA/FA period in Zealots) I would keep Carney and Gado. I would consider keeping Pittman as well but not sure who to put on the list to take his place. Unless you leave both kickers on and keep Gado and Pittman. Just a thought!

Well a bit stuck...Neither kicker is guarranteed their job this upcoming year and my Safeties Darius, Griffith and Westley all are of equal value perse so may be able to cut loose one of them. Only like keeping Pittman cause he has play'd very well in his few starts and cant quite understand why he is second fiddle to Caddy haha.

Hmmm....Not sure either Griese or Rosenfels would be guys to put on the market. Although chances are you get atleast Rosy back cheaply. Also would consider hanging onto both Bennett and Wilford just for the lack of depth on Offense. Kicker is tough with the fact Rayner is a starter and Vanderjagt is going to get a job some where....has to. All in all I would be looking to take more chances in the RFA/UFA on defense where your depth is and value could be more attainable.Hope that helps...

I could see an argument for scrapping that entire group of DEs - the Buffalo guys are likely to be in a 4-man rotation next season, KGB won't get tackles, Seymour's a 3-4... ugh.

I think I'd make a couple of changes... I think I'd keep Rayner over Gramatica and Fason over one of the young LBs - probably Cooper, possibly Tulloch.I also don't really care for Sean Considine much - I could see putting him up as a FA if you want to hold on to another of your offensive players (Wilford would be my choice).

I cut out the guys I would definitely protect. That leaves a lot of borderline guys IMO. I'd protect Quarles and Jurevicius if I were you, and I can't see any possible reason to hold on to Omar Jacobs. I'd also consider cleaning house with those DTs - I know they're good enough to be on someone's roster, but you need to stop relying on DTs and take some chances with DEs long-term. Holding on to those guys just eats roster space and gives you equivalent production to what you can find on the waiver wire for the most part.So... protect Quarles and Jurevicius, add Jacobs and someone else (Stroud) to the FA lists.
