Zero Coverage 2012 - Some contrary predictions for this season (1 Viewer)

Just a bunch of random things I think will happen this year that no one has considered for the most part. I'm not gonna throw a ton of stats/Analysis at these, just gonna throw them out there .

- Dwyane Bowe finishes as a top 3 PPR WR---- D Show is entering his 6th NFL season as a franchise tender player. He knows that at 27 years old, this is his chance to get his mega contract and he will surely be motivated to have a career year. I don't typically buy in to contract year theories , but the talent and production he has shown, plus his prime age, plus a chiefs team that I think will have a great year, bring these stars alignment for Bowe this year. These things plus Crennel in and Haley out, equal Bowe stepping up this year .

- Andrew Luck eclipses Peyton Mannings rookie ints (28)-- This one may seem crazy at first glance- greatest QB prospect in 20 years - how could he do that poorly? This Colts team simply does not have the defense to stay competitive in games and thus Luck will have to chuck it from behind alot. He has no real weapons to lean on outside because Reggie Wayne is just a possession wr now. He's learning a new offense and as great as he was at Stanford, it was still a running team that based its offense on play action. See Donald Brown.

- Fred Jackson finishes as a Top 5 PPR RB-- This one shouldn't seem outlandish really. When Fred got hurt last year he was the number 1 PPR RB. Just seems like everyone's throwing dirt on him a little early. I rarely endorse 31 year old RBs but Fred will have a huge year if he can stay healthy.

- The Kansas City Chiefs win the AFC West-- I touched on this a little bit previously. I think the rest of the west is being overrated right now especially Denver. 2 years ago this Chiefs had a great year and last year was struck with tons of unfortunate injuries. With those injured players back, plus a veteran HC in Crennel, the ousting of hot/cold/sensitive Todd Haley , as well as bringing in DaBoll, this has the makings of a very good team. They have a steady veteran QB in Cassel who can manage this teams offense, and one of the most talented front 7s in all of football, this team wins the West in a runaway with potential for a deep playoff run.

- Doug Martin finishes the season as a top 10 PPR RB-- I jus think this guy is the prime example of a perfect rookie situation and thus the perfect buy for all us fantasy guys. By perfect I mean he has enough question marks around him that people aren't totally sold. Well the window is closing for you to buy so hurry up. Blount will be totally phased out by week 4 and Martin will show how perfectly his skillset fits in the NFL. And Josh Freeman will run a much more effective offense this year and Martin will be a first round mainstay for years.

That's it for now.

The thing about Luck is I think he is still in a power running offense that will rely on playaction. At least that is what I have read they are going to do. I think they can successfully cater to him and slow down the game so his efficiency as a QB should be decent even if they don't win much.

Not a bad list but I don't buy Martin at all for this year, Blount is 24 and running backs get only one pay day. He is on a one year tender and will be likely on a new team next year. Most rookie running backs don't come into the league and become a top 20 fantasy back, let alone top 10 and the new coaching staff has put in a run first system. They won't want to wear out their rookie running back his first year. The coaching staff is smart and realizes they probably aren't competing for the playoffs this year and they let Blount take an equal share in the punishment before he goes to his new team and then they lean on Martin in 2013 and try to become a contender.

I think the AFC West is wide open and I won't be surprised if KC wins it, but they actually were not a good team when they made the playoffs a couple years ago. Just re-watch the playoff game if you don't believe me. They've got some talented guys on defense and this offense should be able to control the clock, but I can't say they've got anything better than a 25% chance of winning that division.

As for Martin, I've seen too many rookies stumble out of the gate to buy into him. Plus, people can say whatever they want about Blount's attitude or dedication, but it can't be denied that he's a good runner. If that offense can rebound then I think we see Blount back around 5.0 ypc which will make it hard for them to justify taking carries away from Blount to give to Martin. Very few backs are capable of 5.0 ypc on a large workload. Blount is one of them. Martin could be a good back and never hit 5.0 for a season. In fact, I'd probably put money on it that Martin never has a 200+ carry, 5.0 ypc season.

I should also add that KC doesn't throw the ball enough for Bowe to be a PPR monster. He's got a better shot in non-ppr. They've actually got some decent receiving weapons in Baldwin, Breaston, and Moeaki. I think Bowe will surpass his ADP if he and Cassell are both healthy for 16 games, but I'll be surprised if he surpasses 80 receptions in a 500 pass attempt offense. I know there is a new OC, but this OC likes to run the ball, too.

New staff in place.

My problem with the Fred Jackson prediction is that Spiller showed he can play while Jackson was out. I don't think Jackson will get the number of touches required to rank that high.

OC stands for offensive coordinator. Also, Crennel isn't new.

He will have to show up first - and not making any friends by staying out of camp

Ronnie Hillman finishes with fewer than 100 touches on the year.

Moss is off the niners by week 5.

Newton finishes as qb1 by a wide margin.

Skelton starts twice the amount of games as Kolb.

Tebow never starts a game. Again.
