I remember being nine. I remember being attracted to girls. Not strongly as it would become, but certainly.Have you ever met a gay 9 year old?

did someone tell the kid he has “locked it in”?The truth. But then again our society doesn't seem too keen on that whole concept.
Being brave is a good concept, but who a nine year old boy is will change dramatically over the years. Telling the kid that he has locked it in already is just not possible at his age. Or how about not choosing the kid to come up on stage and make a big deal of it? This was Pete's campaign that decided to make a big deal of this. I would assume there were a lot of other questions they could have chosen to address during the rally.
I didn't say that GB, I'm just glad we as a culture are more accepting.I've seen several articles on it on my news feeds.
Been there done that. Though I met a crap ton of people.I am a minor functionary, wholly unimportant. Sometimes minor functionaries have minor functions to perform. Sometimes National candidates have to accommodate minor functionaries to get to middling functionaries. Imagine me as a caddy. I do not play the course, I walk the course carrying someone else's baggage.
But if they got the nomination still better to vote for them than Trump.https://twitter.com/kylekulinski/status/1232323097891614720
Pete (and Beto) were always cheap Obama knockoffs. Empty vessels clinging onto an archetype of a successful politician and using platitudes & cliches to fill the policy substance void.
Neoliberals like Obama are the reason we got Trump. We need a new brand of politics, not more empty suits. But if they got the nomination still better to vote for them than Trump.
It’s the brand where we name post offices and shout a lot instead of getting anything meaningful passed, isn’t it?Neoliberals like Obama are the reason we got Trump. We need a new brand of politics, not more empty suits.
Except conservatives are going buts claiming it was staged and that how dare Pete say such things...the kid cant know he is gay yet and so on.Whatever you think of Mayor Pete, this is incredibly moving: A nine-year-old boy asks how he can be brave and tell people he is gay too
I recall in elementary school (figuring ages 8-11), there were some boys that were obviously gay TM (in hindsight, as a fellow 8-11 year old it did not mean anything to me). Through the power of facebook it looks like all of the obviously gay children are now obviously gay adults as confirmation. Of course, there are less obviously gay children that became gay adults, but I think there is plenty of evidence that kids can know that young. I wonder if any elementary school teachers keep track to see how accurate they are 10 years later, seems like it would be an interesting study.Have you ever met a gay 9 year old?
I bet there are plenty of former classmates that aren't gay, but if you heard that they were you would say "oh yeah, obviously".I recall in elementary school (figuring ages 8-11), there were some boys that were obviously gay TM (in hindsight, as a fellow 8-11 year old it did not mean anything to me). Yea, I know. It is super easy to be confident with your answer after the fact. I just feel like there were a few boys where it would have been super obvious to an adult that they were gay, even at ages < 10. Maybe it is just confirmation bias, since I don't recall having a kinsey scale for everyone I went to elementary school with. I would definitely agree that there are probably way more people that don't draw any attention and come out later as a complete surprise.I bet there are plenty of former classmates that aren't gay, but if you heard that they were you would say "oh yeah, obviously".
Usually these stories are reactive to hearing "the news."
Not 100% of the time of course, but that's been most of my experience, which of course could be very different from somebody else.
Hearing that evokes a strong reaction in me, but I'm not looking to get banned so I'll keep it clean and say those people criticizing Pete can go pound sand.Except conservatives are going buts claiming it was staged and that how dare Pete say such things...the kid cant know he is gay yet and so on.
Gave a little when i got the email for the contest to meet Pete and Michael J Fox.Just gave Pete another $25.
Yeah, he looks like toast in the polls, also for Tuesday.Fyi: i will be the guy in SC who votes for Pete today.
Yes, there are subsidies depending on income, just like Obamacare.Question about Pete's Medicare for all who want it plan... How does it work for poor people who can't afford co-pays / deductibles etc? Is there a means tested aspect that covers them?
(Sorry if this has been discussed already in this thread)
If the Dem wins the election, he could have a role in a Sanders or Biden administration. If Trump is re-elected, it’s a mystery. What's the path for Pete if he doesn't get the nomination, Presidency? He's 38, and incredibly well spoken--which goes a long way. I don't think he's coming out of the Democratic primaries, let alone winning the Presidency.
Do people think he makes a senate run? Governor?
I'd say there's a 0% chance he ended up in a Sanders admin. If Sanders wins I don't see any future for him at the federal level any time soon, though I can see him trying to finagle a job in the DNC or Indiana or something. If the Dem wins the election, he could have a role in a Sanders or Biden administration. If Trump is re-elected, it’s a mystery.

Steyer spent a fortune. Regardless, Pete is in trouble and while he is my current favorite candidate, if there was a truly great candidate I probably wouldn’t be backing a guy who is “just” a mayor.Ooof, beat out by some guy named Steyer?
He doesn’t. He’s my preferred candidate, but he should drop out immediately. Right now.Pete “studying whether he has a path forward or not”. CNN
Sadly...yes. He cant get the support in the right places. We are left with two old guys.He doesn’t. He’s my preferred candidate, but he should drop out immediately. Right now.
Same. He is my favorite, but he doesn’t have a path to the nomination and should drop out today. He doesn’t. He’s my preferred candidate, but he should drop out immediately. Right now.

Steyer benefitted from the advantage of being the first in race to publicly “back dat ### up.”Ooof, beat out by some guy named Steyer?
I had a discussion with everyone before the last election about what would happen to the federal judiciary if Trump won. No one took it very seriously. If we ask Pete to bail we're left with “I’m not a socialist, promise!” Sanders* and “I worked for Obama” Biden*, both long-term politicians in their 70s, to battle an incumbent president (I think history proves that’s one of the tougher election wins)?
It’s the first day of March, so I can be this way so far from actual Election Day, but I really don’t see myself embracing the “anyone but Trump” approach or the crotchety old guy with relatively radical ideas that won’t pass muster with Congress. I tend to reject lesser-of-two-evils thought process
*yeah, I know, generalities
