stephan cooper/matt wilhelm (1 Viewer)

as of now it appears wilhelm steps into the spot vacated by donnie edwards and cooper takes godfrey's(if he hadn't taken it last year). Donnie was listed as the LILB, i'm not for certain but as much as he covered(and did it very very well) and didn't blitz as much(not that he was asked as merriman and philips freak'n excelled at it) did he play SILB? or WILB? now was it just donnie and his immense skills that made him ultra productive or was he in a featured spot to rack up tackles for years? i ask this b/c wilhelm who is fairly unknown in my salary cap league cost next to nothing and i wanted to know if he was worthy of taking a flier on later on in our supplemental draft ?or should i just wait to see if he doesn't get drafted and pick him up afterwards. for contrast purposes some of the superstar LB in our tackle heavy league like bulluck/zach/urlacher cost around 28-30$ and wilhelm right now can be had for 3-4$. Cooper is available for nearly the same salary. regardless if i draft or need them i planned on later on putting them on my taxi squad if they are available after the draft.

Although it looks like Wilhelm will take over from Donnie at this point, from my understanding I think you'll find many of the guys in here will have both of them rostered at this point until the situation becomes less cloudy.

We discussed it about two months ago here if you want to check it out.

I've got Wilhelm, Cooper, and Waters in various leagues, usually two at a time. It's pretty expensive roster spot-wise, but could pay off.

Baldwin/Lenon is another pair I've been collecting - which means Lehman will probably win the job.

they both stink

Anthony Waters is the guy you want

Anthony Waters Clemson 6'3" 245

The cautionary story of Lance Mitchell looms, but if teams were worried about Waters health, his recent 4.69 only 7 months removed from an ACL tear should put those doubts to rest. Waters seemed like a clear first day pick going into this season with his fiery leadership and legit NFL size to play inside in any scheme. He's not an outstanding athlete, but Waters production and reputation speaks for itself.

Positives: Has a thick frame with adequate muscle definition, long arms, tight midsection and tapered thighs … Instinctive mover with a good feel for blocking schemes … Lacks the flexibility or lateral agility to move down the line, but shows good straight-line quickness and the ability to close on plays in front of him … Plays with good urgency and is an aggressive type who won't back down from the bigger blockers … Shows good ball-reaction ability, keeping his shoulders square when attacking the line of scrimmage … Has the hand punch to shock and jolt offensive linemen and stays in position, filling the rush lanes with force … Has the hand strength to lock-on and disengage, but can be positioned when he gets too tall in his stance or plays out of control … Doesn't allow blockers to get into his body on the move … Has the quickness to chase down ball carriers along the perimeter and, when he keeps his pads down, he is effective at slipping through trash to collide, drag down or wrap-up the runner … Has the functional range to get wide and keep his feet to make plays on the edge … Sinks his weight and extends his arms properly to wrap and secure … Finds ways to sniff out the ball in traffic … Lacks great sustained speed, but can make plays outside the box (better in the short area) … When he attacks with shoulders square, he gets enough of a push to rock offensive linemen back and pressure the pocket … Builds to top acceleration nicely and won't bite on play-action or misdirection … Uses his hands well to shed and demonstrates good delivery with his punch … Shifts his weight and snaps his hips to generate force behind his tackles.

Looks like the TRUE sleeper Waters might be on his way to the doghouse real soon...what a shame.

Chargers rookie linebacker Anthony Waters was arrested Friday and is accused of hitting a man with his car after the man threw a rock at him.

The third-round pick from Clemson was allegedly hit "on his head and body" by the victim and another man on the side of the road after Waters drove his car at the two. The rock broke Waters' windshield, according to the police report. Waters and one of the men were charged with assault and battery. http://www.wpde.com/news/viewarticle.asp?view=5592
