I went 3-1 yesterday on PIT, TOR, DET, FL. The reason I bring it up is that basically I was fading teams that were at the end of a road trip and had a substantial travel distance postgame. (I threw out crosstown/ cross-state rivalries.)
Why did philly not qualify?
They're still on the road. They go to ATL. The road trip isn't over.Unfortunately, I'm a Phils fan who bought tickets for Thursday's game in ATL - which will be the last game of the trip.
Do you think it really matters whether they are traveling home vs. another site?

well, my theory is that the visiting team is ready to get off the road and looking forward to go back home so they overlook the game. I'm not sure if the visitn team is looking forawrd to traveling to another city.

Does anybody know of an online book that offers MLB -1 lines? All of them offer -1.5 RL, but I've heard somebody offers -1.

Boston looks like a good dog tonight...This thing died in JULY??!! Not a good sign...
I thought the same thing, but DiceK in his only outing against LAA this year gave up 6 runs and 2 HR's...I like the Angels and to hedge the o8. Because if the Angels don't win tonight I really think the get blown out of the water. Either way I think the scoring will be on the higher end...

Up to -150 now. Not excited about that.

I might wait. Philly could easily take that first game with Hamels over Kazmir. Then, you can get the Rays at around a pick for the series. And it's the rest of that Phillies SP that I don't like to begin with...

That may be the best way to get a good price.

I concur with both Leroy and Sonny. Rays best record in baseball, with home field advantage. Looks pretty good to me.

I can lay -140. Why take the chance on the Rays losing gm 1? The line is a pk em.

I may just bet the Rays in each game.

Why take the chance? Um, because I'm not enthralled with laying 150 is why. Why take the chance? Because even if the Rays win the first game (which I could bet, btw, they could lose the 2nd. Again, giving me a MUCH better price.

Why take the chance? Because I can play the game(s) individually, as well.

Why take the chance? Because it's a decent risk/reward scenario, and this is gambling, last I checked.

Worked out perfectly. Hit on Hamels tonight, and will pound the Rays for the series tomorrow. :whoosh:

Good job. I'm seeing +135 on TB now.

I just played a ton of Tampa +175 for the series. Guess it worked out. ;)

+175 for the series? Where?
An online book my local uses. I checked it first this morning and was pretty shocked to see it that high - one of those hazy morning wakeups when you think the number's off (or your off). Checked Pinny and they had +145. I hit +175 pretty hard.

I hammered it. And it appears others did too. I don't think that line was right, mabye they had to put it up there.I see Hamels getting another win, and maybe one out of the rest of those schlubs, but not two from them. Their best chance is some rain-out situation whereby they get Hamels in a third game in some capacity...ala  Hershiser in 88'.

Line just went to 9 1/2. Have to go with the under. All the drunks are rooting for runs on Sunday night...

Neither team's been scoring and it's not like the ball should be jumping.

I took the OVER.Blanton is very hittable and Sonnastine is no Shields.I think 10 runs is very doable.I'm not drunk...yet.
:D Fair enough, but that those are the reasons it's high to begin with.Who knows, though...Pretty buzzed, came home to see how I did in FF. Got crushed. But, I'm as hot as it gets with the book. We'll see ift contineus.Back to the bar, good luck. :goodposting:

I only know one guy that bets bases with any regularity. He put $4200 on ov9.5 tonight. I think he's probably about to hang himself. Can't get a feel for how he does overall. Real streaky.

I'm looking to play the Rays again tonight. +170, +1' -140. Something along those lines.

Long story short but I have $500 on Iwamora +100 total bases over Rollins. I bet Iwa +100 and Rollins +130 at the same book. They cancelled the Rollins wager but wouldn't cancel my Iwa wager. Whatever, I'm gonna let it ride. In game 1 Kaz owned Rollins and Iwamura was effective against Hamels.

Should be a good game tonight. I'll be the only one at the bar rooting for the Rays, that's for sure.

Tough break for all the TB backers.....

I had a friend with a huge PHILLIE series bet and hedged tonight on TB. He still does not believe me that a game for gambling purposes on the ML is official after the 5 and results back to last completed inning, this 2-1 PHI FINAL.

I didn't know this either. Thankfully my Rays ML bet wasn't huge.

Did anyone hang a line for this game?
Pinn at -153/+145. I played some +150...
Does anyone know who will pitch? How will they handle the order?
Balfour will go back out for Tampa and I'm guessing Madson for the Phils. Balfour is obvious because he only threw 9 pitches two nights ago and they don't want to waste him in a tie game that could potentially go extra innings. I'm guessing we see Dobbs or Stairs pinch-hit to lead off the game. Pinny just put up a RL on the game. Rays +1' -310. I gotta think the -310 has some value. Only way they lose is if they give up 2 runs in the 7th or 8th or have a walk-off multi-run HR hit on them from the 9th inn on. Any RL opinions here?

They can also give up 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th also.

Forgot about that too. Pinny dropped it to -280 anyway. Not sure if any of my books will post it.
