RB Bijan Robinson, ATL (1 Viewer)

I don’t know. Some kind of horrible stomach flu sounds like one of the only logical reason for the last minute reduction in usage while not appearing on an injury report.

Earlier this week Bijan said he is sore.

Smith said they need to manage his workload.

Hard for to believe what happened today is coincidental.

Feels very NBA style load management but no matter what very odd to deem him not up to touching the ball all game and conclude with 24 seconds left now he’s good now.

Feels like this storyline has the potential to kinda blow up. The Falcons are saying that he didn’t feel well yesterday, and didn’t feel well this morning. The NFL is partners with a lot of sports betting companies and I’d think that purposely neglecting to mention something this relevant in an injury report could have some ramifications. This is all complete speculation on my end—so take it for what its worth—but I have a feeling that this story is not going to just vanish.

Sore and need to manage his workload???? Not even halfway through the season, is this a joke.

So I just saw a tweet or an “x” that Draftkings sportsbook was going to refund all prop bets involving Bijan this week. I hardly ever bet on sports, so I’m not sure if this is legit, or if somebody with a fake draftkings account is posting it—but if anybody else can verify this—I’d be curious. If sportsbooks are already kinda stepping back from this situation, I’m not sure what to think.

He's already had his workload managed!! I don't think he's even had 20 touches a game.

From the rotoworld blurb, it sounded like a migraine - if it was, I can understand, but it still sucks that he no injury designation, no word of anything.

Then why put him in for a carry with two minutes left in the game?
I’m completely speculating here—but there used to be something about injury designations that involved the players ability to “finish” a game. By putting Bijan in for a play towards the end of the game—perhaps the Falcons are thinking that they can loophole their way through not being honest about Bijan’s status and attempt to avoid any sort of fine/discipline.

I will say that in the clip I saw him where they showed a close of up of him, he didn't look right. It was weird. I had no idea what was up with him and hadn't heard the audio, but it was a camera angle focused on him and he looked to be under some sort of duress. What it all means I'll let you guys speculate, but if they announced he was sore and let him speak to the media like that, you can darn well be sure they had kid gloves out with their first-round pick should he feel even slightly off.

I wouldn't worry if I was everybody. This week was surely not fun for those of us that started him, but sometimes guys come down with sicknesses the night before. COVID is still going around, the flu is coming into season, etc.

Could just be that.
Yeah, I have no idea what is up, but I'm not worried. Very irritating tonight, but I don't expect this to be an issue going forward, whatever it was. Call me naive, but I usually take the things coaches say at face value until there's reason not to believe it.

Sportsbooks do this on occasion when big stars get hurt very early in a game. They do it for good will.

It all sounds fishy.
This!

There has to be more to it and I don't think we will like the answers

-Calvin Ridley became a problem in Atlanta, however you want to slice that situation and how things unraveled from 2021 thru him being traded to Jax
-Now we have a mystery where Bijan doesn't play all game but they don't inactivate him and we get vague answers that he's not feeling right.

I'm not saying there is any connection except that things seem to happen in Atlanta that you never see coming and it's frustrating

The headache explanation doesn’t pass the smell test. If he was too sick to be out there, he’d be declared out prior to the game in favor of a healthier player.

I know Arthur Smith has made his contempt for fantasy footballers known but this is another level of absurd on his end. His wife must have left him for an NFFC winner and he’s held a grudge ever since, who knows???

It’s not just fantasy footballers. The injury reports are also for regular sports betters. The betting line, over/under of the game would have absolutely changed if the Falcons announced beforehand that he would be limited or might not play at all.

This is the right answer. If Bijan got 0 carries I feel more would have done this. With him getting 1 carry that really throws a wrench there, but glad at least 1 big one is refunding people.

The headache thing makes no sense, particularly with the leagues stance on concussions. Bijan’s head ached so badly that medicine didn’t even help, and he was unable to play…until thrown into the game in the fourth quarter for a meaningless carry? Wouldn’t team doctors have been concerned about the cause of the headache and evaluate for a possible concussion? Last thing you would want to do is send him out there for a meaningless carry and risk taking a shot to the head.

I heard he slapped his girlfriend because she was mad after catching a hooker shooting PED's into his ***, then got drunk and high and drove a stolen party bus through an orphanage.

Then got sick.

Headaches and concussions aren't always related. I find it hard to believe that the team doctors hadn't checked him out, so I think that's an unlikely reason why he had headaches.

This kinda sounds like a Percy Harvin situation. Where he had some migraines keep him out throughout his Vikings career. Bijan probably would benefit from some weed, as Harvin claimed that was the best thing for him.

A guy I played with in college had a bunch of unexplained migraines, and he eventually found out he was diabetic.

Arthur Smith is the guy who buys an expensive home theater setup, and then watches movies on his phone. Its such a weird thing. Like I know that fantasy football doesn't matter to NFL HCs (nor should it) but Smith seems to actually enjoy handicapping his own offense to prove this point. They are in 1st place right now, but they've lost at least 4-5 games the last 2 years, because of failure to utilize their best players.

I get that it was extremely frustrating, but, even in re-draft, it's one game. Some people just flipping out way too much. In dynasty, this was the smallest blip to be worried about. Again, I agree it was extremely frustrating, but it's not like you can expect this to happen again. He's an easy start the rest of the way unless we see another game like this or get word that he's still having issues with it.

Besides Robinson being so obviously talented, how many people overrated him for fantasy this year precisely because he got drafted 8th overall and there's no way a team drafts a RB that high and doesn't use him a lot? I sure did. I fully expected him to outperform his ADP because of it. Same with Gibbs.

Robinson now has 2 more touches than Allgeier for the season, despite yrds/touch of 5.5 vs 3.7.

Of course it’s possible Bijan’s supposed headaches weren’t concussion-related, but when a professional football player complains of “feeling weird” and headaches unaided by medicine, it seems reasonable to evaluate for a concussion. Perhaps the team doctors did just that.

If so, Bijan Robinson being evaluated by team doctors prior to the game seems newsworthy, no? If he was not evaluated for a concussion, I would think Arthur Smith and the team doctors have some explaining to do.

I dunno. Even with the RBBC, the guy has scored double digit points every week in my league except this past one. Maybe you expected more but hes pretty much a set and forget RB1. Also, not sure why you expected him to outperfrom his ADP when he was going top 6 in drafts. He was drafted at his ceiling. Hes currently RB #11 WITH yesterday's dud.

Has there been any more clarification from A. Smith today?

I've got to think local reporters are going to be all over him on this one.

That thought process did get me with Gibbs but I don't think it applies here, at least not if we remove this game as some odd ball anomaly.

Bijan entered this game on pace for exactly 300 touches. That's exactly what I had in mind considering they had Allegeir, his touch high in college was in the 270's and they don't want to run him into the ground his rookie season when they are still more in the building up phase of their team then in the contending phase.

I said this numerous times yesterday but whatever Bijan's usage was to date he was saying before this last weeks game he had been feeling sore and Smith followed that up by saying they had to be careful with him. Yesterday being something else, but otherwise everying about this seems like a team trying to be smart and manage short and long term consequences of his usage.

I expected him to be about RB3 when he was going around 1.10. I get the points aren't bad, but I expected a stud like Ekeler or CMC. Because why would anyone waste the #8 pick on a guy that you don't give 25 touches a game to? And if they did, what would he rank? RB3 maybe?

and then let him play...even a little bit? not likely.
