Those #s are basically just a bet on how many games he misses due to injury. 3500 is ~200 yards a game, no way he doesn't hit that if he plays in all 17.3500 yards and 23 TDs. Thats a solid line.
I think I'd go under on Yards and Over on TDs. Bears will continue to play semi-conservative offense, but Williams has success in the redzone.
When you put it like that it seems very doable. 3500 yards would be the 5th best passing season in Bears History. Times have definitely changed...Those #s are basically just a bet on how many games he misses due to injury. 3500 is ~200 yards a game, no way he doesn't hit that if he plays in all 17.3500 yards and 23 TDs. Bears HC Matt Eberflus officially named Caleb Williams today as Chicago’s starting QB.
The Bears acquisitions of Allen, Odunze, and Everett has me leaning more towards the passing. Swift may just be as simple as upgrading the RB room with Foreman having left in free agency and Herbert and Johnson being all that's left.I cant decide if the Bears singed Swift because they want to run more and ease Williams into the position, or not. This would result in less passing than previous years and more running plays, but I could also see them letting Williams loose.
The Swift signing was exactly that, an upgrade from Herbert. The Bears probably wanted a vet back there and he filled the bill. The Bears acquisitions of Allen, Odunze, and Everett has me leaning more towards the passing. I was thinking that they may have good defense and running game, and you were being a little optimistic with your projection, but yeah, top 15 seems within reach.I think given the weapons around him, it'd be an upset if Caleb Williams wasn't a top-15 QB as a rookie
not really seeing the good running game, i mean not terrible but closer to average, seems like they're set up to passI was thinking that they may have good defense and running game, and you were being a little optimistic with your projection, but yeah, top 15 seems within reach.I think given the weapons around him, it'd be an upset if Caleb Williams wasn't a top-15 QB as a rookie
They have three useful RBs. Mobile QBs usually bring along a good running game with them.not really seeing the good running game, i mean not terrible but closer to average, seems like they're set up to pass

“It’s easy to recognize the quarterback’s [Caleb Wiliams] high-level arm talent and ability to change speeds with his passes, to throw with accuracy and to make plays from different arm angles and while on the move.”
“[Caleb] Williams didn’t have much opportunity to show off his superpower, which is his ability to extend plays and be dangerous as a passer off-script. Inside league circles, there’s curiosity to see how Williams can use that skill in the NFL while not becoming overly reliant on it.”

I'm starting to look at Williams as well. I didn't buy into the hype coming out of college but he is going to have 2 legit WRs that have proven they are in the Top 10-20 WRs in the NFL, both of them have long resumes at this point and then you add in a sensational rookie at WR drafted in the top part of the 1st round to compliment Williams, a decent TE in Kmet and Swift/Herbert can cause some damage in the back field, sure a stud RB could be added eventually but for a rookie taken No 1 starting off in the NFL behind a decent OL, this looks pretty good.Agreed the WR investments hold a lot more weight than any RB investment. The Bears acquisitions of Allen, Odunze, and Everett has me leaning more towards the passing. I think the Swift signing further indicates they want to pass more. Swift is not a better runner than Khalil Herbert, he never has been. However, Herbert is not a good pass catcher, and other than last year in Philly, Swift has been one of the better pass catching RBs in the NFL.
I think given the weapons around him, it'd be an upset if Caleb Williams wasn't a top-15 QB as a rookie. Top-10 is absolutely on the table. Also, Williams is a vastly underrated runner. He's not Jayden Daniels or Justin Fields, but he ran for 21 TDs in his 26 games at USC. It wouldn't be a shock at all if he dropped 5+ rushing TDs.

First glimpses of Caleb Williams throwing to the vets: #2 DJMoore, #12 Velus Jones Jr, #10 Tyler Scott, and #13 Keenan Allen. #DaBears
No way CW is as good as the hype. He is the 4th best QB in this class, and likely relegated to back up duties by year 4. Sorry. He isn't THAT guy. Should have taken Maye or Daniels. If you've seen my posts recently in the Fields thread, you can imagine me shaking my head in comicdisbelief at my Bears and their QB mojo. Fields win the job in Pittsburgh leads them to more success for years to come. Caleb does anything less than an MVP or SuperBowl in the first five years (if that) and if he doesn't look great in year 1, and this is one of the biggest laughing stock stories ever for years to come.
Stupid Bears. Even if CW is the real deal I don't believe they'll make it work. Hope I'm wrong. But I'm pissed they moved Fields for so cheap. I've said my piece about it in the Fields thread so here is wishing CW the best.

Completely different results today in 7-on-7s for Caleb Williams.
Only one incomplete pass, which happened on the final rep.
Williams' best pass was a deep touchdown throw to DJ Moore in the middle of the field. His second best throw was a nice layered throw to John Jackson near the left sideline.
Rome Odunze ran a vertical route against Terell Smith down the right sideline, and Odunze drew a pass interference call.
It will be fascinating to see how his game translates to the NFL. He has elite arm talent and great mobility. How quickly he is able to play within the pro scheme is the question. As a Lion’s fan I do fear this guy reaching his full potential. Time will tell, but he walks into a pretty incredible position with the talent surrounding him. The Bear’s are seemingly doing whatever they can to focus on developing him the right way and are making sure they do not continue their history of not providing the right support for a young QB.Bears fan and also owning a share as well. I like what I've heard from Shane Waldron about Caleb's development. During camp they told him to make bad throws to see what he can get away with at the NFL level. Caleb responded well to the learning process and sounds like he's going to be a pro's pro.
Yeah I agree. I think the Keenan Allen trade was a big win. If Caleb fails its on him. This is coming from a guy who blames the Bears for ruining Fields. It will be fascinating to see how his game translates to the NFL. He has elite arm talent and great mobility. A player needs to be responsible for their performance within the system they are placed in. However when a franchise doesn’t support their player correctly and do not put them in position to maximize their abilities they are to blame as well. There is a lot that goes into the success of an individual player, hopefully the Bear’s do their part to give Caleb the best chance to reach his peak.Yeah I agree. I'm hopeful that the Bears give a solid amount of grace to Caleb in his rookie season. My opinion on Poles is that he's trying to do right by the players and will do what he can to put them in a position to win. Flus, on the other hand, I'm not so sure about. It's clear that 22 and 23 were about rebuilding and that they were sticking with him regardless. THey cannot, however, have a 23 season like they did followed up by a similar 24 season. This team needs to come out of the gates swinging and well prepared, which they were not in 2023.Alot of people are talking about how Caleb is in such a great position to succeed and talent/roster wise, I do think he walks into a great situation compared to most #1 picks.
The flip side of that though is that there is going to be an expectation to win Day 1. Under a HC who many thought was dead man walking midway thru last season and if I'm calling a spade a spade, still hasn't instilled much confidence in the CHI faithful.
The first 9 games seem awfully favorable with respect to putting up a very good record, but I would say anything less than 6-3 at this point and whispers will start.
Let's not forget, there was a lot of optimism this time last yer in CHI and yet here we are. But things are going to have to click from the jump. That's a lot to ask, even for a rookie as heralded as Caleb is.
It's refreshing that play-calling is at least part of the narrative. Because being in the right play is really everything. The level of deception, getting defenders to over-pursue, sit in their tracks, take false steps, how much of that will there be? Oh, well we're so happy you asked, a lot, for what it's worth. Sweet, if that's the case he could be a league winner! Last week, my 3rd league drafted, had a new guy who reached for QBs in the 1st 4 rounds & several more later. Long story short, those of us who weren't in the sweet spots reacted & reached ourselves. I drafted Williams in the 6th round, .5ppr, standard lineup, 2-player keeper league."They cannot, however, have a 23 season like they did followed up by a similar 24 season. This team needs to come out of the gates swinging and well prepared, which they were not in 2023."
Well, Daniels is the better runner, so that will artificially inflate his worth. I tend to agree with you though, Daniels will be the better fantasy option, but I think Williams will be the better nfl qb by far.I have a feeling Jayden Daniels will be the better fantasy QB.
