McDonald's year over year sales were terrible. How would you fix

Thought this was incredibly timely and relevant: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/20141210131918-10136502-why-mcdonald-s-is-dying?trk=tod-posts-post1-ptlt

*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed

Starters Ricky Rubio (ankle), Nikola Pekovic (foot, wrist), Kevin Martin (wrist) and Thad Young (death of his mother) all missing extended time has just completely devastated the team. They started out 2-2, and those two losses to Memphis and Chicago were by a combined five points! But then...

    The Case Against Global-Warming Skepticism

^ ...or why it's colder with less sunlight in the Northern Hemisphere this time of year. ;)

Did you have any success making a lowball offer on your home?

Former doctor in our town went to work at a clinic in another town, and put the house we bought on the market. Sat vacant with no offers for nine months. Appraised for $18,000 more than their asking price (they had just built a new 2+ car garage at the back of the property two years earlier)...

Why do people refer to their favorite sports team as "us"

Nah. Just when I'm laughing with 6-8 other posters in the FFA about how easy it is to :fish: in these waters. ;)

    Boston Guys

Spent a month in Boston about two months ago, and went down to the Faneuil Hall area three times. Never once was hassled from folks begging for money, though we did enjoy thoroughly the pizza in that little area across the plaza-like area from said Hall. Outside Harvard though?! Couldn't walk...

Al Bartlett Gives A Talk on Mankind's Greatest Problem

Most of the folks I know who subscribe to the "crying wolf" theory on this sort of thing tend to be Christian, and believe that "the end times" are near. Will even cite scripture telling you as much. Basically, their attitude is "since Jesus is coming back soon regardless, let's just party...

Al Bartlett Gives A Talk on Mankind's Greatest Problem

Let's run with that, jon_mx. Starting with numbers which have no basis in reality. Please, you have the floor. Enlighten the rest of us sheeple who simply haven't been given access to the truth...the same information that you have. Do some good for the planet by helping the rest of us lost...

Al Bartlett Gives A Talk on Mankind's Greatest Problem

It's not jon_mx's fault. The clock in his house still reads 11:58-11:59, so there's PLENTY of land, water, oil and other resources for the next several hundred years, right?! ;)

Al Bartlett Gives A Talk on Mankind's Greatest Problem

That deserves a "wow?" Unless your "wow" was to imply Ditkaless Wonders winning the Captain Obvious award for the evening?

There are many more conservatives in this forum than liberals

Rather than lump everyone into "black" or "white," "liberal" or "conservative," it'd be interesting to see a series of questions that people can answer...issue to issue. I think you get a LOT of people here who would call themselves an "independent," that others of us would call a pretty...

    Issue with forward massage therapist

Sex life with the wife okay, Woz? Communication with her solid too? Just seems to me that the shark move would be to be completely honest with her...tell her you feel like the masseuse is coming on to you a bit...but that you're not interested in her sexually. Remind her that you would...

Isn't it weird to donate for sick animals when we have sick kids?

All good guesses. But the correct answer was conservatives. Fringe-Right, Fringe-Christian evangelical Conservatives. Thanks for playing though!

Isn't it weird to donate for sick animals when we have sick kids?

You know what would REALLY help protect all living things on this planet?! One particular species not breeding like rabbits, consuming ungodly amounts of resources...while turning what's left (that said species hasn't consumed) into its own landfill. But never you mind about that...since God...

Isn't it weird to donate for sick animals when we have sick kids?

:P Maybe folks could get Sally Struthers crying on an infomercial that shows lots of baby calves with their mothers. Show them up to their mid-sections in "poo," cold, wet, shivering...then show as said calve's mother is hauled off to the slaughterhouse...with Sally PLEAING for donations to...

Isn't it weird to donate for sick animals when we have sick kids?

Wait a second...you can OWN family members?! I'm telling my daughters when they get home from school today that I have fields that need to be plowed. H'yah mule....H'YAH!!! :P

Isn't it weird to donate for sick animals when we have sick kids?

I'm with you, Otis. I love dogs, cats, etc., and about the only living thing I'll kill are plants (food, weeds), rodents and insects. That said, people >>>>>>> pets. Others are correct in saying it doesn't need to be one or the other! But I personally have never...

*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed

I got to attend the event in person. Was a GIANT buzzkill that the "dunk contest" was all of 3-4 minutes of players just dunking the ball on 3-on-0 drills to end the practice. But that said, some thoughts on the Wolves after the event: 1. All but Kevin Martin couldn't hit the backboard from...
